FPL 2018/19: Five Budget Price Defenders to watch out for £(4-5)m

Defenders are often overlooked when an FPL manager is making a team because majority of their budget is spent on midfielders as well as forwards. This is where budget price defenders help you score those extra points which make you stand apart from the rest.

Luke Shaw (5.0m – Manchester United)

The United full back is fit again & has enjoyed a decent pre season with the Red Devils. Shaw did not play a lot of games last season due to injury though he did play 787 minutes for the club and picked up 7 clean sheets. He has trained well during the pre season, His 5.0m price tag allows an easy entry into the Manchester United back line. Shaw would be eager to prove a point this season.

Michael Keane (5.0m – Everton)

Everton’s fortunes are expected to change under new manager Marco Silva. Keane kept 7 clean sheets as well as assisted once in the league last season. The centre back has tackling success rate of 76% while he just picked up 3 yellow cards in just 30 appearances for Everton.

Cedric Soares (4.5m – Southampton)

Southampton had a terrible season last time around, they would be eager to put it behind this term. With the appointment of Mark Hughes the Saints would be looking for stability at the back. Cedric picked up 3 assists & had 7 clean sheets in 32 appearances. The right back is brilliant going forward as well as defending. He can be the key to Saints renaissance this season.

Jonny (4.5m – Wolves)

The left back signed for the newly promoted Wolves from Atletico Madrid on a season long loan. In La Liga, Jonny scored two goals for Celta Vigo and picked up a assist. With the departure of Barry Douglas, all eyes will be on Jonny to follow in the footsteps of Douglas given his exciting potential at the left wing-back position.

Stephen Ward (5.0m – Burnley)

Burnley were brilliant in the league last season, they conceded only 27 goals. Ward picked up 9 clean sheets in just 28 appearances. He managed to score & assist during the 17/18 season. Ward is a bargain for his price range as Burnley are really solid defensively.
