WWE SmackDown Live – Ratings and Highlights:

WWE SmackDown Live started with a recap of what had happened at WrestleMania. They showed Daniel Bryan’s triumphant in-ring return in WWE, and how he had teamed with Shane to defeat Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

In this write-up, we will write about the highlights of the show, and rate each segment between -5 to +5.

Shane McMahon promo: +4

Shane McMahon started the show with a promo talking about the fact that Daniel Bryan had returned to in-ring competition full-time and as a result had to resign as the SmackDown Live General Manager.

He then went on to introduce the new SmackDown General Manager, which turned out to be Paige, who had retired from in-ring competition from Raw the previous night. She made an announcement that she made the first match on SmackDown Live for the main-event. She announced that the returning Daniel Bryan would face the WWE Champion, AJ Styles.

After Daniel Bryan asked for his release as SmackDown General Manager to once again become a full-time Superstar, Shane McMahon emerged to introduce Paige as his replacement.

New Day vs The Usos [Number One Contendership for SmackDown Live Tag Team Championships]: +3

The New Day and the Usos faced off against each other as they were to face each other in a match to determine who would face the new SmackDown Live Tag Team Champions for the title.

The New Day had the advantage early on in the match. There was chain wrestling. Xavier Woods’ rolling clothesline was countered with a Samoan Drop. Big E tried to set up the Midnight Era, but Jimmy and Jey broke away with two superkicks and then hit the splash on Woods to pick up the win and the tag team title opportunity.

The Usos and The New Day reignite their legendary rivalry in a match to determine who will challenge The Bludgeon Brothers for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles at the Greatest Royal Rumble event.

Natalya vs Naomi: +2

Natalya and Naomi had a fast paced match. Natalya hit the Spinning Powerbomb on Naomi, but Naomi won the bout with a Split-Legged Moonsault.

Charlotte Promo: +4

Charlotte came out to talk about her experience at WrestleMania where she won the title from Asuka after breaking her streak. She was interrupted by the debut of the Iconic Duo. Peyton Royce and Billie Kay attacked Charlotte viciously and took apart the Women’s Champion practically knocking her unconscious.

Carmella came and in and cashed her Money in the Bank briefcase against Charlotte, hitting her with the Big Boot and winning the Women’s Championship.

Rusev vs Randy Orton vs Bobby Roode: +2

Randy Orton, Rusev and Roode squared off for another opportunity for the United States Title. Randy Orton was the winner of the match as he beat Rusev and Roode to gain the chance.

He was able to hit the RKO on Roode to pick up the win.

The Glorious One, The Viper and The Bulgarian Brute battle to see who with take on The Modern Day Maharaja for the United States Championship at WWE Backlash.

AJ Styles vs Daniel Bryan: +4

AJ and Daniel had an amazing match as the two of them kept the action going with reversals. Both locked in their submissions of the Calf Crusher and the Yes Lock but managed to get out of it.

Bryan seemed like he was going to win the match when Nakamura did a run in. He hit both stars with Kinshasas and then hit AJ with another low blow.
