WWE Fastlane: Ratings and Highlights

WWE Fastlane started the show with the match between Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev. Fastlane is set to be the last exclusive pay-per-view of WWE, as the SmackDown Stars square off before Wrestlemania.

We will rate each segment between -5 and +5.

Rusev vs Shinsuke Nakamura: +3

Rusev was accompanied by Aiden English as he came down to the ring. Rusev slowed down Nakamura for the first half of the match, as Rusev used the distraction of Aiden English everytime Nakamura looked good.

Rusev used his speed, but Nakamura came back with knees and hit knees on the sides of the Bulgarian Brute. Rusev hit him with a Fallaway slam, countering the chokehold. Rusev tried to go for the Accolade but Nakamura countered with a near pinfall roll-up. Rusev hit Nakamura with a Superkick but Nakamura was able to kick out.

He tried to go for the Accolade again, but Nakamura hits him with a knee to the back of the head followed by the Kinshasa for the win.

Randy Orton vs Bobby Roode: +3

Roode and Orton used mat wrestling to slow each other down, and everytime Roode looked cocky he was put down by Orton. Roode countered the RKO by pushing him away. Randy Orton looked to gain the one title that he did not have since starting to work for WWE. Roode hit Orton with a Blockbuster for a near fall. Orton hit Roode with a Powerslam.

The two kept countering each other. Orton sent Roode into the outside barricade and then hit a backdrop on the barricade. Orton hit Roode with a Superplex. Roode hit Orton with a Superplex for a near fall. Roode went for a Blockbuster, but Orton countered and hit the RKO to win the match and the United States Title.

After the match, Jinder Mahal came out to attack Orton, but Roode hit the Glorious DDT on Mahal, followed by another on Orton as well.

Becky Lynch and Naomi vs Carmella and Natalya: +2

Naomi looked like she had the advantage early on in their bout, as she hit Natalya with a Springboard Stunner. However, Natalya and Carmella came back and isolated her in their corner, with Carmella hitting her with the Bronco Buster. Becky came in and hit Natalya with the Becksploder, but Carmella hit her with a Jawbreaker. Naomi hit Carmella with a kick to the head.

Carmella took Becky out with a Hurricanrana from the top rope. Carmella hit Becky with a Superkick for the win.

The Usos vs The New Day: +3

The Usos isolated Xavier Woods in their corner and stomped him down. Kofi came in off the hot tag and took out the Usos, hitting Jey Uso with the Boom Drop. Kofi hit Jey with a mocking Hip Attack, after which Jimmy came in and hit the Boom Drop on Kofi. Kofi avoided a Trouble in Paradise and was hit with the Midnight Hour for the near fall.
Kofi hit the Uso Splash on Jey, but Jimmy stopped Kofi and Xavier hitting the Dual Uso Splash on them. The dropped them outside and hit them with Dual Suicide Dives.

The match was interrupted as the Bludgeon Brothers came out to attack the two tag teams. They took each of them apart, particularly hurting Xavier Woods with dual big boots and then a suplex on the hard floor. They later also hit him with a Powerbomb on the stairs.

Charlotte Flair vs Ruby Riott [SmackDown Women’s Championship]: +2

Charlotte and Ruby squared off, with Charlotte dropping Ruby onto the apron back first. Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan distracted Charlotte until Naomi and Becky came out.
Ruby hit Charlotte with the STO, but Charlotte came back with a neck-breaker. Charlotte was able to hit the moonsault but got pushed from the top rope. Ruby got caught in the ropes and Charlotte hit her with the Moonsault on the outside.
Naomi and Becky were ejected from ringside after they fell for the bait laid by the Riott Squad, but Logan and Morgan were ejected as well.
Ruby looked like she might win, but Charlotte hit her with the Spear before locking in the Figure 8 for the win.
Asuka came out to challenge Charlotte for the title at Wrestlemania.

After SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair defeated Ruby Riott, The Empress of Tomorrow confronted Flair and made it known that she has WrestleMania on her mind: Courtesy of the award-winning WWE Network.

John Cena vs Baron Corbin vs Sami Zayn vs Dolph Ziggler vs Kevin Owens vs AJ Styles [WWE Championship Match]: +4

The match started with John Cena hitting AAs on all the stars other than AJ. AJ and Cena hit blows in the centre of the ring, and both men countered each other’s finishing moves. All five stars surrounded Cena and beat him down.

The match spilt outside the ring. Corbin sent AJ into the ring and then threw Owens into the barricade. Styles got a near fall on Corbin and then on Zayn. He hit Kevin Owens with a Facebuster and an Argentine Neckbreaker on Baron Corbin. He hit Sami with a reverse DDT.

Kevin Owens threw AJ down from the top rope, and Corbin was taken out by Cena. Dolph hit a DDT on Cena but was hit with a Frog Splash by Kevin Owens.

Cena hit Ziggler with a Backdrop and another on Zayn. He hit them with the Ten Knuckle Shuffle and tried to go for the Attitude Adjustment, which was turned into the Famouser.

Cena locked in the STF on Ziggler, but the pinfall was broken up. Styles hit the Styles Clash on Cena, but the pin was broken up by Sami and Kevin. Corbin hit Zayn with a hard forearm and a Dreamcrusher on Kevin followed by a Deep Six on AJ. He took out Ziggler and almost got him with the End of Days.
Owens looked like he was going for the Popup Powerbomb on Styles, but Cena sent Styles through the table instead.
Owens and Zayn faced off against each other in the ring. Zayn appeared to keep his word as he lay down in the ring for Owens to pin him. Owens attacked him and Sami and Owens broke down in the ring attacking each other. Owens went for the Powerbomb on the apron, but Sami hit Owens with a backdrop.

Owens accidentally superkicked Shane as he went for Sami. Sami hit the Tornado DDT through the ropes. Owens hit the Popup Powerbomb on Ziggler and was about to pin him but Shane interfered. Zayn hit the Helluva kick on Owens, but Shane interfered again.

On the outside, Corbin took out Cena with the Steel Steps. He brought them in and attacked Zayn and Owens. Cena came in and took the steps and hit Corbin with the steel. He hit Corbin with the AA on the Steps, but Ziggler broke it up. Cena went to hit Ziggler with the steps, but got hit with the Superkick and hit Ziggler with the AA. Owens hit Cena with the Popup Powerbomb, but it was AJ who came in with the Phenomenal Forearm on Owens who won the match.

The pay-per-view was a good one and was much better than expected. It got a rating of +17 out of +30.

After failing to get a win in the WWE Championship Six-Pack Challenge at WWE Fastlane, John Cena shows respect to WWE Champion AJ Styles and makes his way up the entrance ramp.
