Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 29: Herd Purchases and Lost Causes

Raheem Sterling

Now into the last quarter of the Season, things have heated up a good deal as teams struggle to gain a good place on the table ahead of Gameweek 29.

In this article, we will outline the Herd Purchases [Players most transferred in] and Lost Causes [Players Most Transferred out] in Gameweek 29. We will also give our viewpoint, on whether the transfers are justified or not.

Let’s start with the Herd Purchases.

Herd Purchases:

Roberto Firmino:

Points in the previous fixtures:
GW 26: Spurs [h]- 2
GW 27: Southampton [a] – 12
GW 28: West Ham [h] – 8

Upcoming fixtures:
GW 29 – Newcastle [h] GW 30 – Manchester United [a] GW 31 – Watford [h]

Discussion:
Firmino is one of the most consistent strikers in the Premier League at the moment.

Verdict:
With Gameweek 31 coming up, where most teams will draw blanks, Firmino is a safe option to have on the team.

Salah Firmino

Xherdan Shaqiri:

Points in the previous fixtures:
GW 26: Bournemouth [a]- 8
GW 27: Brighton [h]- 10
GW 28: Leicester City [a]- 9

Upcoming fixtures:
GW 29 – Southampton [h] GW 30 – Manchester City [h] GW 31 – Everton [a]

Discussion:
As a relatively inexpensive midfielder, Shaqiri has tripped onto some good form, though there are a few tough fixtures looming.

Verdict:
Another player who will not be missing Gameweek 31, Shaqiri would be a good addition to the team.

Christian Eriksen:

Points in the previous fixtures:
GW 26: Liverpool [a]- 2
GW 27: Arsenal [h]- 3
GW 28: Crystal Palace [a]- 6

Upcoming fixtures:
GW 29 – Huddersfield [h] GW 30 – Bournemouth [a] GW 31 – Blank

Discussion:
Eriksen has been a consistent fixture in the Spurs team throughout the season.

Verdict: Keep him for the next two fixtures. Can replace him with Mane in GW31.

Ben Davies:

Points in the previous fixtures:
GW 26: Liverpool [a]- 1
GW 27: Arsenal [h]- 12
GW 28: Crystal Palace [a]- 7

Upcoming fixtures:
GW 29 – Huddersfield [h] GW 30 – Bournemouth [a] GW 31 – Blank

Discussion:
While other Defenders have not done too well recently, Davies has picked up the slack.

Verdict:
Similar to Eriksen, Davies is another Spurs player who could be a valuable asset for your team for the next two fixtures.

Willian Borges Das Silva:

Points in the previous fixtures:
GW 26: Watford [a] – 1
GW 27: West Brom [h] – 1
GW 28: Manchester United [a] – 9

Upcoming fixtures:
GW 29 – Manchester City [a] GW 30 – Crystal Palace [h] GW 31 – Blank GW.

Discussion:
Keeping in mind Chelsea’s upcoming clash with Barcelona, there is no surety that Willian will start the match against Palace. On top of that Willian has a game against Manchester City and a Blank Gameweek coming up.

Verdict:
Owing to his amazing form in recent weeks, it might be profitable to retain Willian in your team.

Lost Causes:

Raheem Sterling:

Points in the previous fixtures:
GW 26: Burnley [a] – 3
GW 27: Leicester City [h] – 8
GW 28: Arsenal [a] – Yet to play

Upcoming fixtures:
GW 29 – Chelsea [h] GW 30 – Stoke City [a] GW 31 – Blank GW

Discussion:
Sterling has suffered a muscle injury and is yet to play in this week. His injury and an upcoming blank week make him a doubt.

Verdict:
Keep him in, but wait to see how things develop after City’s match with Arsenal.

Phil Jones:

Points in the previous fixtures:
GW 26: Huddersfield [h] – 0
GW 27: Newcastle [a] – 2
GW 28: Chelsea [h] – 0

Upcoming fixtures:
GW 29 – Crystal Palace [a] GW 30 – Liverpool [h] GW 31 – Blank GW

Discussion:
After an amazing start to the season, and a good run in the middle, recently, injuries and inconsistency have seen Jones’ form peter out.

Verdict:
Get him out, as the injury may keep him out for a long while.

Theo Walcott:

Points in the previous fixtures:
GW 26: Arsenal [a]
GW 27: Crystal Palace [h]
GW 28: Watford [a]

Upcoming fixtures:
GW 29 – Burnley [a] GW 30 – Brighton [h] GW 31 – Stoke City [a]

Discussion:
Walcott’s recent performances have not been the best. On the positive side, Everton will feature in Gameweek 31.

Verdict:
With lighter fixtures coming up, keeping him on the team may be a good idea.

GW 27: West Ham [a] – 2
GW 28: Everton [h] -3

Upcoming fixtures:
GW 29 – West Brom [h] GW 30 – Arsenal [a] GW 31 – Liverpool [a]

Discussion:
Deulofeu is a talented player and is known for his speed and ability to get points. His injury, however, is likely to keep him out for some weeks.

Verdict:
Check back in for an injury update at the beginning of this gameweek before taking him out.

Sergio Aguero:

Points in the previous fixtures:
GW 26: Burnley [a] – 2
GW 27: Leicester City [h] – 21
GW 28: Arsenal [a] – Yet to play

Upcoming fixtures:
GW 29 – Chelsea [h] GW 30 – Stoke City [a] GW 31 – Blank GW

Discussion:
Aguero is an unpredictably good player, but with the Champions League coming up, and the return of Jesus he may no longer feature in the Premier League as much.

Verdict:
Keep him in for now, but right now, it is a gamble.
