WWE SmackDown Ratings and Highlights

WWE Smackdown started with Renee Young introducing AJ Styles to the Live Audience in Phoenix as they called him out to the ring for an interview. She asked him his thoughts about the Fatal Fiveway match that he had in front of him at the Fastlane Pay-per-view.

He told her that he would love to take apart Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin. He knew that the Fatal Fiveway added a hint of uncertainty to proceedings, but he was sure that he could take all of them apart individually.

Baron Corbin came out to interrupt him and said that he was stronger than AJ gave him credit for. Kevin Owens came out as well, and blamed Sami Zayn for the match being a Fatal Fiveway, saying that while Kevin had not had time, Zayn did have time to prepare for Ziggler.

Shane came out next and said that he wanted to see action in the ring, and made a match for Corbin against AJ Styles, and Owens against Dolph Ziggler.

In this write up we will rate each segment between +5 to -5.

Kevin Owens vs Dolph Ziggler: +3

Kevin Owens and Ziggler faced each other in the opening match of the night, and Ziggler had some of the momentum after his victory on the last episode of SmackDown Live. Owens hit Ziggler with a Cannon Ball.

Owens hit Ziggler with a Gutbuster followed by a splash elbowbuster. Ziggler managed to take advantage of Kevin’s momentary lapse to hit him with a Superkick and seemed to gain back momentum. It was Zayn who provided the distraction for Ziggler as Kevin hit him with a Superkick to take him out and win the match.

Jinder Mahal Promo: -3

Jinder Mahal came out to say that Roode’s personal top 10 list did not have Orton or him on it. Roode came out to say that in a fair fight Jinder would not be able to win.

Orton came out after Jinder referred to him repeatedly. They both hit Jinder and dump him out of the ring. Randy tried to RKO Roode and was instead hit with a Glorious DDT. Jinder hit Roode with the Khallas.

The Top Ten List is silly and means nothing. This was horrible.

Bryan and Shane made the match for the US Championship with Orton slated to face Bobby Roode.

AJ Styles vs Baron Corbin: +4

Styles and Corbin squared off in the match made by Shane McMahon. Corbin had the advantage over Styles, but Styles distracted him and sent him careening into the post. He hit Corbin with a knee and then hit him with a Phenomenal Forearm for a nearfall. Corbin then out him on the top rope and looked to knock AJ off. AJ dropped him and went for a dive, but Corbin hit him with an amazing Deep Six for another Nearfall. Corbin tried to hit him with the End of Days, but Styles caught him with the Calf Crusher.

Styles caught Corbin with a huge Phenomenal Forearm and that was all that was required for Styles to win.

After the match Kevin and Sami attacked AJ. They were then taken out by Corbin who stood tall, as the Fastlane pay-per-view gets even closer.

This SmackDown Live lacked everything other than the main event. No Nakamura or Rusev on the show made the entire show horrible. The show got a rating of +7 out of a possible +30.
