The FPL fever is in full force and it is as important to get the best buys as it is to avoid the ones which will not only cost you your precious budget but also might end up not giving you any points at all. Here we take a look at 5 such players which you should avoid getting into your teams for GW1.
Artur Boruc (GK, Price- 4.5)
With the arrival of Asmir Begovic from Chelsea, Artur Boruc, who is currently owned by almost 7% of the FPL managers, is almost certain to be 2nd choice for the Cherries. Bournemouth conceded 67 goals with Boruc in goal last season, just 3 less than Swansea who conceded the most. Begovic was used sparingly by Chelsea but was solid whenever he was called upon by Conte and is an experienced player who can add more solidity to Eddie Howe’s team.
Danny Rose (DEF, Price- 6.5)
Rose is now the most expensive Spurs defender in FPL this season after Kyle Walker left for Manchester City. Although Rose is a brilliant player to own as he offers the potential for points on both ends of the pitch, Kieran Trippier offers a similar scope of points on the opposite wing and he is £1.0 million cheaper than his compatriot. Also, Rose is coming back off a long term injury and is prone to injuries as seen last season.
Eden Hazard (MID, Price- 10.5)
Chelsea’s talisman is currently recovering from an ankle injury which he suffered during international duty with Belgium. Hazard is expected to miss at least one month (3-4 matches) of the new season and FPL managers should instead look at Willian, Pedro and Morata to get into Chelsea’s forward line.
Raheem Sterling (MID, Price- 8.0)
Sterling started very few games for City at the back end of last season and his game time is expected to reduce even further with the coming in of Bernardo Silva who plays on the same right side where Sterling plays. At £8.0, managers expect a player who can give them points on a regular basis, not someone who is not even guaranteed to start. Select him on your own peril.
Diego Costa (FWD, Price- 10.0)
Costa was the most consistent striker at the start of last season and a favourite for FPL managers, starting at just £10.0. It’s a shame then that he had a falling out with Antonio Conte. Although still listed on FPL at the same price, Conte has made it clear that Costa will play no part for Chelsea this season and a transfer to Atletico Madrid looks inevitable.
