ICC Champions Trophy Final: India vs Pakistan – Probable XI

Indian players shake hands

It has all boiled down to the final match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 as arch-rivals India and Pakistan clash at the Oval on Sunday. These two teams last met in the final of the 2007 World T20 which proved to be a nail-biting affair which was won by India in the end.

Both these teams played their first match of the tournament on 4th June against each other which was won by India comfortably in the end. India have been in great form throughout the tournament, losing only one match to Sri Lanka.

Their opening batsmen Dhawan and Rohit have made strong contributions up the order and provided a firm foundation in all the matches. The middle order hasn’t had the opportunity to bat because of the strong display by the top order but it features many match winners including Yuvraj and Dhoni who are well capable of contributing when they get their chance.

Pakistan, on the other hand, came into the tournament as the number 8th ranked team in the world and have surprisingly paved their way into the final. They are the underdogs going into the final and will look to outperform India to clinch the trophy.

But the numbers tell a different story as India always has had an upper hand over Pakistan in the ICC Tournaments. Pakistan defeated hosts England in an impressive display of quality fast bowling, bundling the hosts out for 211. The bowling has been their strength and they would look to bank on that in the final against India.
