WWE Smackdown aired its last episode before Money in the Bank. Here are the highlights –
Sami Zayn gets some revenge on Corbin
The team of AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura and Zayn emerged victorious against Corbin, Ziggler and Owens. After numerous attacks by the Lone Wolf, Zayn was able to get some revenge and caught him with the Helluva Kick.
After the match, Owens and Ziggler introduced a ladder into the mix. They went after Styles. Corbin got possession of the ladder first and hit Ziggler with it. Nakamura stepped up and nailed the Kinshasa on Corbin and climbed the ladder, foreshadowing his intentions.
Charlotte beats Natalya
Two of the female competitors set to challenge for the MITB briefcase went one-on-one. Charlotte and Natalya engaged in a back-and-forth match. Charlotte controlled the early stages, but Natalya turned it around with a powerbomb out of the corner.
Both women kept the MITB briefcase in their sight. But in the end, it was Charlotte who took advantage and hit the Natural Selection to seal the win.
Jinder Mahal’s intro
Jinder Mahal came out to the boos of the crowd and berated his Money in the Bank opponent Randy Orton. He went out to disrespect the Orton name and claimed to erase the latter’s legacy piece-by-piece. The WWE Champion then said that Orton was afraid of him and talked in Punjabi. Orton interrupted and the Singh brothers waited for him at the ramp. But Orton came through the crowd and hit an RKO out of nowhere.
Smackdown Quick Hits: The show opened with The New Day being played to the ring by a marching band Breezango and The New Day defeated The Usos and The Colons.
