WWE Raw followed up its impressive pay-per-view showing with a fresh episode. Here are the highlights from the evening –
Reigns beats Wyatt
Roman Reigns faced off against Bray Wyatt, one night removed from their Fatal-5 match at Extreme Rules. Over the course of the match, Wyatt controlled the pace and got the upper hand early on. But Reigns made a comeback and started dishing out clotheslines.
Wyatt momentarily took the initiative with some more offense and signaled for the Sister Abigail, but Reigns then followed up with the Drive-by kick and finished up the match with a signature superman punch-spear comibination to close it out.
Ambrose not done with Miz
After losing his Intercontinental Championship to the Miz, Dean Ambrose was scheduled to take on rookie Elias Sampson. Ambrose instead attacked Sampson and asked for his rematch. Miz appeared on the screen and said he was on his celebration tour and would not be able to give the rematch. Meanwhile, Sampson got up and returned the favor to Ambrose and proceeded to assault him to close out the segment.
Joe lets his intentions known
Newly crowned number one contender Samoa Joe came out to address his victory and went on to make his announcement very simple. Joe claimed he is not afraid of Brock Lesnar; instead, he is envious of him – he wants the lighter schedule, the higher pay scale, he wanted Paul Heyman to negotiate for him. Paul Heyman came out to endorse how brutal the eventual contest would be. But before he could leave, Joe snapped and locked Heyman in the Coquina Clutch in the middle of the ring. It was announced later that Brock Lesnar would return to Raw next week.
Joe beats Rollins the main event
Samoa Joe took on Seth Rollins in the main event. Fresh off his victory at Extreme Rules, Joe looked rejuvenated and had an extra spring in his step. His offense was clean and more focused as he took the fight to Rollins.
Rollins tried to turn it around with his speed and mobility, but Joe was quick to stop him in his tracks. But Rollins was not going away easy and hit the suicide dive and slingblade to get some momentum on his side. He went to the top of the turnbuckle to take advantage, but the lights went out.
When they came back on, there was no Wyatt in the ring, and Joe capitalized and applied the Coquina Clutch to get the win.
