The fifth fixture of the ICC Champions Trophy will be played between the mighty Australians and Bangladesh at the Kennington Oval in London. The Australians would be looking to tame the Bangladesh and register their first win of the tournament as their first match against New Zealand was abandoned due to rain with both the teams getting 1 point each.
Australia had a rather ideal start to the tournament as they restricted New Zealand to 291. They, at one time, were looking to score more than 330. The Aussie bowlers, especially Josh Hazlewood bowled superbly at the death as they quickly chipped away tailenders to bowl out New Zealand. The batsmen also got an ideal start in the chase. However, New Zealand bowlers got hold of the match early on as they sent 3 Aussie batsman back to the pavilion before rain played havoc and the match was abandoned.
Bangladesh played their first match against England and set a big target of 306 for England to chase, courtesy a quality innings of 128 by Tamim Iqbal and contribution of 79 by Mushfiqur Rahim at the end. However, the England batsmen got the better of Bangladesh as Joe Root’s unbeaten 133 and Alex Hales’ 95 ensured that England chased the target down in 47.2 overs. The Bangladesh bowling attack didn’t have that X-factor which could dismantle the English batting line up. Bangladesh proved to be too mediocre with their fielding too which leaked runs at crucial moments to release the pressure built up.
Now, Bangladesh will be up against the Australians as both the teams are looking for victory desperately.
We take a look at the key players who will be crucial in this match.
BATSMAN- DAVID WARNER
The Aussie pocket dynamo has been in amazing form in the recently concluded Indian Premier league where he was the Orange Cap winner. The World Number 2 ranked batsman Warner is a crucial component of Australia’s batting order as he can take the game away from the opposition with his terrific hitting capabilities. He is a prolific scorer who likes to take on bowlers in the powerplay overs, generally providing a good start to the team. When he gets going, even the best of bowlers run for cover. He will be a key player to watch out for in their match against Bangladesh and also will be crucial to bolster Australia’s claim on the Champions Trophy 2017.
BOWLER- JOSH HAZLEWOOD
Hazlewood has been a vital component of the Australian pace attack along with Mitchell Starc. He troubles the batsman with his tight lines and disciplined bowling as his height helps him to also get additional bounce off the pitch. He has been in great rhythm lately and has also picked up 6 wickets – the second best bowling figure in Champions Trophy history. He will look to carry this form throughout the tournament and help Australia win the Trophy.

ALL-ROUNDER – SHAKIB AL HASAN
Shakib is the numero uno All-rounder in the ICC ODI Rankings and rightly so. His contributions for Bangladesh have been significant in Bangladesh being such a good side, now giving tough times to all World class sides. He is a very experienced player in the team who has played in different conditions around the world and is one of the major reasons for Bangladesh’s recent surge in the world cricket. He will be the All-rounder to watch out for in the upcoming clash against Australia.
