Today’s Rumour Mill features reports of Manchester United’s pursuits of options all over the field of play.

Manchester United hit roadblock over player

According to The Independent, Manchester United have hit a roadblock in pursuit of Croatian winger Ivan Perisic, as there lies a difference of around £15 million between Manchester United and the Milan club’s asking price of £50 million.

With the situation looking tough, Jose Mourinho is looking at former club Chelsea for the services of Willian, who continues to be Jose’s number one target for the position. The report adds United sources claim any signing would mean Manchester United will part ways with Anthony Martial, though the Frenchman is not officially for sale.

Arsenal play their tricks to convince Wenger to stay on

Arsene Wenger is to be handed at least £100 million in transfer kitty if he stays on at the club, reports the Daily Star. The meeting later in the week will announce a new deal for the Frenchman, however, it is going to be one of the most factious in years, with Wenger and chief executive Ivan Gazidis needing to find a common ground of the way the club should run.

Chelsea make inquiry of Bayern star as Conte looks for Van Dijk alternatives

Chelsea have made a tentative inquiry about German defender Jerome Boateng as Southampton continue to maintain their asking price for Virgil Van Dijk which is said to be in excess of £50 million, reports the Daily Mail.

Southampton are expected to sack manager Claude Puel soon so Chelsea are looking at other options with Nathan Ake linked to Bournemouth, Zouma linked with a loan move to Marseille and the ability of Andres Christensen to make an immediate impact in the first team.

On the other hand, Boateng’s place in the Bayern squad looks to be hanging lose with the arrival of Niklas Sule and a move from Chelsea early on could tempt 28-year-old to make a switch to the Premier League.

Manchester City to insist on buy-back clause for West Ham target

Manchester City want a buy-back clause in 20-year-old Kelechi Iheanacho’s contract if they are to sell him with West Ham reportedly interested in signing him for £20 million, reports the Daily Mail.

The report further adds the Nigerian is also attracting interest from Everton and Leicester, but West Ham continue to be in pole position. City are insisting on a buy-back clause as they don’t want to end up in the same situation Chelsea are currently at, as they allowed Lukaku to leave without inserting a clause and now could end up paying £100 million to gain his services once again.
