Best and Worst Segments from this week’s WWE RAW

Brya Wyatt and Roman Reigns

With Backlash behind them, the next pay-per-view for WWE is Extreme Rules, which begins in 2 weeks. This week’s WWE RAW started with a promo for the Fatal Fiveway to decide the next Number one contender for Lesnar’s Title. It also saw the first match of the Drifter on the main roster.

In this write-up, I will rate each segment in a range between +5 to -5.

  1. Bray Wyatt Promo: +4

Bray Wyatt opened the show declaring that of all the competitors in the Fatal Fiveway, he is the only one who can slay the beast. Roman came out to interrupt Wyatt and the two came face to face, till Kurt Angle came out to make a match between them right there and then. Bray Wyatt was amazing on the mike tonight.

  1. Bray Wyatt vs Roman Reigns: +2

The match dissolved into chaos really fast and ended with Samoa Joe coming out to attack Reigns, allowing him to win by disqualification. He then attacked Wyatt, till Rollins came out and cleared the other two from the ring.

  1. Akira Tozawa vs Ariya Daivari: +1

Tozawa faced Daivari in a short match. In a few seconds, Tozawa beat Daivari. He has all the momentum heading into the Street fight with Kendrick on 205 Live.

  1. Elias Samson vs Dean Ambrose: +3

Elias Samson started the segment by singing in the ring instead of a usual entrance. During the match, Miz and Maryse joined commentary. Elias has a presence in the ring. He is definitely a future star. He dominated for a large part of the match, till Ambrose was able to hit him with a neck-breaker. Samson put him to a stop again however with a huge knee.

Elias Samson won the match as Miz ran to the ring and hit Samson just so that Ambrose was disqualified. Samson put Dean to rest after that with a huge swinging neck-breaker.

In a backstage segment, Enzo was found unconscious by Cass.

  1. Finn Balor vs Karl Anderson: +3

Finn Balor was giving a promo but was interrupted by Paul Heyman. He addressed each of the Fatal Fiveway competitors and then finally came to Finn Balor, and confessed that Balor was the only one he felt was worthy to face Lesnar.

Anderson and Finn Balor had an impressive match. But it was Gallows with his cheating who was making the difference in the beginning of the match. Anderson hit a Spinebuster on Balor. Balor, however, was able to come back and hit the Coup de Grace for the win.

  1. Alicia Fox vs Sasha Banks: -3

Fox hit Sasha with a Big boot, but the distractions of Noami weren’t enough to stop Sasha from picking up the win.

  1. Apollo Crews vs Kalisto: +2

Apollo Crews has gotten a whole new attitude since joining the Titus brand. Apollo dominated the match, though Kalisto was able to make use of the excessively excited Titus distracting Apollo to hit him with the Selida Del Sol to pick up the win.

  1. Sheamus vs Matt Hardy [Stipulation for Extreme Rules on the Line]: +4

This match went back and forth between the two for a long time, till Matt took control with a Tornado DDT and Side Effect. Sheamus countered with a knee though. Matt countered a Brogue kick and hit a twist of fate that allowed him to pick up the win.

The Hardy boys chose the Steel Cage match as the stipulation for their match at Extreme Rules.

  1. Tony Nese vs Austin Aries: +1

Austin looked to lock in the Last Chancery to end the match fast. Aries was fighting through his knee injury and Nese took advantage of it. But it was the Last Chancery that made Nese tap out finally.

  1. Alexa Bliss vs Mickie James: +3

Mickie and Alexa had a good match with both of them putting on quite a show. Alexa picked up the win with a DDT. Post match Alexa attacked Mickie with a kendo stick. Bayley attacked her and took the kendo stick as Alexa retreated.

  1. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns vs Samoa Joe and Bray Wyatt:

Rollins started the match with Wyatt. Roman was tagged in and he dominated till Wyatt’s corner pose took Roman by surprise. Joe and Wyatt were a formidable team and dominated the whole match. Rollins came in and hit Samoa Joe with a Blockbuster, and took out Wyatt as well followed by a suicide dive. Rollins fought off both of them and hit them with a double crossbody. Joe avoided Roman’s attack which resulted in Seth being pushed. Joe locked in the Coquina Clutch and became unconscious, though the referee did not do the hand drop count to check.
