Twitter explodes on Cristiano Ronaldo’s record breaking night!

Cristiano Ronaldo celebrates after scoring a goal

The La Liga race has come to its end as Madrid got past a resilient Celta Vigo in a highly entertaining, controversial clash last night. Real Madrid are enjoying a fruitful season and came into the clash needing at least a draw to steer clear of Barcelona. A Cristiano Ronaldo brace helped them win 4-1 on the night.

With only a clash against Malaga on the cards, Madrid are strong favourites for the La Liga title. A draw would be enough for the reigning European champions to seal their first title since 2012. However this season the refereeing in La Liga has come under limelight for all the wrong reasons. The referees were found wanting often as many crucial decisions were bottled. Interestingly, most of those decisions went against Barca or went in favour of Madrid, highlighting the theory of bias in La Liga.

Ronaldo Shines

Cristiano Ronaldo is quite the record breaker in the Los Blancos line-up. The Portuguese captain became the highest goal scorer of all time in the top five European Leagues.  The 4 time Ballon d’or winner scored the opener in under 10 minutes to grab his 367th league goal to take him past former English star Jimmy Greaves. It was his 283rd league goal for Madrid and he has netted 84 times for the Red Devils. He also scored his 368th goal on the night to wrap up the win for Madrid. Here are the best reactions for Ronaldo’s record breaking goal.

Ronaldo’s fall of disgrace

Ronaldo is a goal scoring machine and sets out to achieve astonishing numbers. But the Portuguese star is not perfect as his constant tantrums and play acting often over shadowing his achievements. On a record breaking night, Ronaldo pulled out (what appeared to be a) blatant dive to win a penalty.

The referees were caught napping more than once in the match. Iago Aspas was sent off for a second yellow for simulation. It was heart breaking for the Celta fans (Amd Cules) as the forward was clearly fouled and must have been awarded a penalty that would have changed the game, quite possibly the title race. Varane’s blatant handball was waved play on and Casemiro was once again dreading the narrow line. As usual the men in the Whites were fortunate to have so many decisions in their favour.

Ronaldo chose the wrong day to dive for a penalty.

Garbage officiating once again goes Real Madrid’s way. Ronaldo’s second looks offside and now a dive on Aspas on a clear foul on Ramos.

iago aspas sent off after getting a second yellow when he didn’t even dive but when ronaldo dives nothing happens..

Rashford is gradually learning how to dive from C.Ronaldo……..

And the controversial conspiracy theory is gaining weight.

@dermotmcorrigan if the card was for diving what about the dive by Ronaldo? Campaign to dethrone Barca!

Varane handball: Not a penalty. ✅ -Aspas’ red card: Not a PK, not a dive. ❌ -Penalty on Ronaldo: Not a PK not a dive either. ✅

And the Ballon d’or debate.

It is not January yet but it does not stop the debate for who deserves the Ballon d’or. While a fifth for Ronaldo will bring him on level with Messi, but it is safe to say he is a million miles ahead of the Argentinean star in on-field play acting. Well this is one thing which Ronaldo can claim that he is better at, when compared to Messi.

Buffon who? Only CRISTIANO RONALDO deserves Ballon d’or this season! 💪💪

Ronaldo exploded like never before in the last 2 months and went back to playing like if he’s 20 years old! 😍🔥 5th Ballon D’or incoming 😎👑

And looking at the way La liga has shaped up this season, it would be naive to rule out the following tweet.

Watch Malaga smash Real left right and centre but for a 90th min dive by Ronaldo to get a pen and a draw Balon D’Or to follow Scenes……
