Delhi Daredevils take on the Rising Pune Supergiant at the Ferozshah Kotla Stadium at Delhi. Delhi are already out of the tournament and would look to salvage some pride from this game. RPS on the other hand, have registered 8 wins so far and look good to qualify for the playoffs. The Pune outfit endured a dismal start to the season, but have turned their fortunes around with Ben Stokes leading the way, and would look to register a win against Delhi to confirm their place in the playoffs. Delhi are on the back of a victory against the Gujarat Lions, and would look to register another win to give their fans something to cheer about.
The Daredevils won the reverse fixture by a healthy margin of 97 runs, and Pune would be desperate for revenge this time around. Sanju Samson scored a brilliant century for DD, and Pune folded out for just 108 chasing a target of 205. Since then, the two teams have had contrasting fortunes, with Pune almost qualifying for the playoffs, and Delhi out of the tournament. Still this game promises to be an enthralling one .
DELHI DAREDEVILS TEAM NEWS :
Delhi’s South African contingent have left for national duty, so Chris Morris, Kagiso Rabada will not be available. Angelo Mathews too has joined the Srilankan side, and hence will not be available. Delhi are likely to stick with their winning combination from the last game, which they won. Shreyas Iyer scored a brilliant 96 , and he would continue to bat at no.4, with Samson, Nair and Pant coming in ahead of him.
The only change expected is bringing in Ben Hilfenhaus for Marlon Samuels to strengthen the bowling department.
RISING PUNE SUPERGIANTS TEAM NEWS:
Imran Tahir has also left for national duty, so Adam Zampa would come into the team as a like for like replacement. Tahir has been one of the best bowlers in the tournament, and RPS would miss him dearly. But Aussie leg spinner Zampa is expected to deliver the goods. In the batting department, Pune have not had many problems.
On the bowling front, Jaydev Unadkat and Shardul Thakur have done well, and with Ben Stokes in the ranks as well, they make a good bowling unit. They would be looking to contain the young batsmen of Delhi.
Fantasy Pick Batsman : Shreyas Iyer
— Priyadarshi Das (@toposant55) May 10, 2017
The Mumbaikar had not fired in the tournament, but scored a brilliant 96 in the last game to lead his team to a victory. He would be expected to fire once more for the Delhi outfit. Iyer is rated highly in the domestic circuit, and has been a consistent performer in the Ranjhi Trophy, and should deliver more consistently in order to make it to the Indian side. He definitely has the potential, but should make it count as he is touted to be the future of the Indian team.
Fantasy Pick Bowler : Jaydev Unadkat
Unadkat has been the surprise star in the tournament for the Rising Pune Supergiant, and has picked up 17 wickets so far. Unadkat has also picked up a hattrick and a five wicket haul and has bowled well with both the new as well as the old ball. He would be expected to deliver in the crunch games now, as Pune look to win their maiden IPL title. With Tahir not with the team now, Unadkat has more burden on his young shoulders.
Fantasy Pick All Rounder : Ben Stokes
What a player this man has been for RPS. Good with the bat, ball and in the field. Stokes has been one of the players of the tournament so far, and has lived up to his reputation and price tag. Pune would need their talisman to be in top form in the upcoming games as well, as they look to get into the top 2. The burly all rounder would also look to carry his brilliant form and lead his team to the title.
