With a spot in the play-offs virtually sealed, resurgent Kolkata Knight Riders will aim to consolidate their place in the top-two as they take on Kings XI Punjab in the 49th match of VIVO IPL 10 at Mohali.
After two successive losses, the Knights seemed to lose track a bit. But a superlative performance against struggling RCB has again re-ignited their hopes of finishing among the top two. With Chris Lynn back and Sunil Narine at his lethal best with the bat at the top, a win against Punjab will make Knights the second team to qualify after Mumbai. On the other hand, the remaining matches for Kings XI are virtual knock-outs as they need to win all the matches to stay in the hunt for the play-offs. Despite a century from Hashim Amla in the last game, they suffered a loss against Gujarat, which have only complicated matters for them.
As far as the past records are concerned, the two teams have met 20 times, with the Knights leading by a significant margin of 14-6. Interestingly, KKR have won their last eight matches against Punjab, which includes the 2014 IPL final. Eyeing to stay afloat in the tournament, Kings XI will also want to improve their record against the visitors.
Therefore we take a look at the probable XI of both the teams.
