Zlatan Ibrahimovic has reportedly vacated his home in Manchester, effectively ending his stint at Manchester United. The Swede took the Premier League by storm, scoring 17 goals, and can leave with his head held high. Zlatan scored lots of vital goals for Jose Mourinho’s side and took all the scoring burden upon himself. But a serious knee injury cut short his season. Mourinho would need another hit man to take over the goal scoring burden from Zlatan in the summer. Follow Your Sport has picked out 5 players who could replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the Manchester United lineup next season.
1) Antoine Griezmann:
According to numerous reports, the Frenchman has already agreed personal terms with the Red Devils and looks set to join his friend and compatriot Paul Pogba at Manchester. Griezmann is Atletico’s talisman and they would demand a huge fee for him. But United are not short of money and would be trying their best to sign the influential Frenchman. Griezmann is one of the best players and would surely haelp United challenge for the Premier League title. He is still very young and would thrive with Pogba in midfield. If United manage to snap up Griezmann, they would make a major statement in front of their rivals.
2) Romelu Lukaku:
It would be quite the turnaround from Jose if does sign the Belgian from Everton. The Portuguese boss sold Lukaku when he was at Chelsea, and since then the Belgian has become one of the best strikers in Europe. Lukaku has revealed that he wishes to play for a Champions League next season, and is expected to leave the Toffees this summer. If United do not manage to sign Greizmann, then they would look to sign Lukaku as he is still very young, and is a proven goal scorer in the Premier League. But his chances of joining his former boss would depend on whether United qualify for the Champions League or not.
3) Alvaro Morata:
The Real Madrid striker is frustrated playing second fiddle to Karim Benzema despite being one of the best strikers in the world. Morata is Madrid’s second highest scorer this season despite coming on as a substitute in a majority of the games, but Zidane prefers to play Benzema ahead of him in the bigger matches. Morata would be a brilliant buy for United, as he would guarantee goals and is also very young. Mourinho gave Morata his senior debut at Real Madrid and knows the striker well. A deal would make sense for both the striker and the club.
4) Mauro Icardi:
The Argentine striker has been the source of speculation for quite some years now and would be the perfect fit for Manchester United. Icardi has been fantastic over the years for Inter Milan but is not a fan favourite at the San Siro. Icardi is a fantastic finisher and would thrive in the centre-forward role for United. He would come cheap as well and if Mourinho does snap him up, he would be considered a fantastic addition to the squad.
5) Alexander Lacazette:
The Frenchman is too good a player to play for Lyon and should leave the club for better opportunities. Joining Manchester United would be the perfect option for Lacazette as he would be a guarantee in the starting lineup. Mourinho should make Lacazette his no. 1 target if he does not manage to sign Griezmann as he would not be very expensive and is also a proven goal scorer.
