Brendon McCullum injury

Gujarat Lions pinch hitter Brendon McCullum has been ruled out of the remainder of the IPL after suffering a strain in the left hamstring in the Lion’s match against the Delhi Daredevils. Although Gujarat Lions are now out of the race of the Play Offs, they still have to play 3 more matches in this season and McCullum’s absence will surely be felt by them.

The Lions overseas pool has decreased gradually as Dwayne Bravo was out of the tournament after which Aussie Pacer Andrew Tye who was performing significantly for them was ruled out due to an injury. Jason Roy had to go back to fulfill his national duties. And now Baz has also been ruled out of the tournament. The team has failed to match their previous season’s performance as they have managed to win just 3 games out of the 11 they have played till now.

McCullum was in great form in the tournament as he was the second highest run getter for the Gujarat Lions in this season after their skipper Suresh Raina. He had amassed 319 runs in 11 matches at an average of 29.00 and at an strike rate of  147. He is currently in the top 10 run getters of IPL 2017.

He thanked the Gujarat Lions’s team mates, coaching and support staff and team owners with a tweet:

The Lions will be playing one match against Kings XI Punjab in Mohali  on May 7 and then two matches against Daredevils on 10 May and Sunrisers Hyderabad on 13 May in Kanpur.
