Team India and Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli has been a run machine over the past year and his performances have helped his teams get over the line on many an occasion. He is ranked number 3 in ICC ODI Rankings, placed 5th in ICC Test Rankings, and sits in 1st place in the T20 rankings, which gives evidence of his top class performance.

His performance in the recently concluded series against New Zealand and England have shown how important he is to the current Indian team. It isn’t surprising to know that the match in which Virat Kohli has failed to perform, the team has struggled as well. Indian cricket fans were sweating after Kohli injured his shoulder while fielding in the Test series against Australia
After missing the initial games in IPL 10, Kohli’s return has turned out be an anti-climax after enduring a forgettable tournament for the runners up of IPL 9. So keeping the upcoming Champions Trophy 2017, should Virat Kohli consider taking rest before the showpiece tournament in England?
Virat has been playing regularly in all the three formats and as full-time captain, his responsibilities have increased over time. The importance of his form to the Indian side is crucial and hence he should be refreshed before joining the Indian team for the CT 2017. It will also have an impact on his captaincy as it would be the first ICC event in which he will leading the side in the 50 over format.

Virat has the capability of carrying the team’s expectation on his shoulder alone and merely his presence on the field will boost the confidence level of his teammates. And with Royal Challengers Bangalore virtually out of IPL 10, it wouldn’t be the worst idea for Kohli to rest before the Champions Trophy and be back fully charged for the tournament.
