The Kings XI Punjab registered a comprehensive 10-wicket victory over the Delhi Daredevils at home courtesy a fine bowling performance from all their bowlers. Winning the toss and bowling first, KXIP bowled out the Daredevils for a mere total of 67 runs. It was Sandeep Sharma who laid the foundation of such a terrific performance with a 4-wicket haul. KXIP openers Martin Guptill and Hashim Amla then chased down the total with an unbeaten partnership of 68 runs; Guptill scoring 50 of those in just 27 deliveries.
Let us now have a look at the performers and non-performers from the match.
#1) Sandeep Sharma: Sandeep produced another fine spell of seam bowling today as he claimed figures of 4-20 in his four overs. Opening the bowling for KXIP, Sandeep claimed the wicket of Billings in the very first over and then followed it up with the wickets of Sanju Samson (5), Shreyas Iyer(6) and Kagiso Rabada(11) at different stages of the match. He was also adjudged the ‘Man of the Match’ for his match winning spell.

#2) Axar Patel: He once again showed how effective his left arm spin is as he claimed figures of 2-22 in his 4 overs. First of all, he clean bowled the stand in Delhi skipper Karun Nair (11) and then followed it up with the big wicket of Chris Morris (2). Morris was out caught and bowled to Axar as he mistimed a ball that held up on the wicket after pitching.
#3) Varun Aaron: He made most out of the opportunity after he was picked to play today as he claimed two wickets giving away just 3 runs in the couple of overs that he bowled. He was the one who dismissed Corey Anderson (18). Anderson was looking in good touch with the bat but it didn’t matter to Aaron as he cleaned him up with a superb delivery.
#1) Sam Billings: Billings was making his comeback into the side after quite some matches and he wouldn’t have hoped to walk back to the Pavilion that early as he departed for a duck after facing just a couple of deliveries in the first over itself. He fell victim to a very good delivery from Sandeep Sharma as the ball just swung enough to induce a thin outside edge only to be caught behind by the wicket-keeper.
#2) Sanju Samson: He had been in a rich vein of form with the bat leading into this match. Moreover, he has also scored a century in this edition of IPL itself. Normally, he gets his team off to quick starts. However, today, he was tied down by some good bowling from the KXIP bowlers and ultimately departed for 5 runs made off 14 deliveries when he mistimed a shot off Sandeep Sharma’s bowling to give away an easy catch to Mohit Sharma at mid-off.
#3) Rishabh Pant: Pant made a good start to this tournament with a good half century and a couple of brisk thirties in the earlier matches. However, his form gradually faded away as the tournament progressed and a string of low scores continued. And today was no exception to that as he was out lbw to KXIP skipper Glenn Maxwell for 3 runs made off 6 deliveries.
