IPL 2017: Gujarat Lions v Mumbai Indians Super Over story!

The excitement and fever of the Indian Premier League season 10 reached its peak today as the season experienced its first super over. As the Gujrat Lions seemed to have lost the plot after Krunal Pandya hit Irfan Pathan for a six off the first ball with 11 needed off the final over, it took some great effort in the field by Ravindra Jadeja to take the game to a Super Over. He hit the bulls-eye twice in the final over with his bullet throws.

Faulkner was hit for a six and a four by Pollard off the second and third ball in the super over but the Aussie made a superb comeback to dismiss him and Buttler off consecutive balls. It meant Gujrat Lions needed 12 off their super over to win the game.

Bumrah started the over with a no-ball but did not let Aaron Finch make any use of the Free-hit. He then bowled a wide and it seemed that pressure has taken over his young brain. However, what followed was simply unbelievable as he kept shut McCullum and Finch for the  next five deliveries and won it for the Mumbai Indians. That two of the world’s most feared hitters could not get even a boundary speaks highly about the quality of Bumrah’s bowling.

Have a look at how the super over unfolded.
