1. 6-23 Against England in World Cup 2003
Arguably the best Nehraji performance coming against the English at the Kingsmead Durban in the 2003 World Cup campaign. India needed something special from their swing bowlers to defend their score of 250 and Nehra provided just that. In his bowling masterclass he bowled 10 overs on the trot and finished with the figures of 6-23- third best bowling display in World Cup till then. This amazing spell ensured an 82-run victory for India over England.

2. 6-59 Against Sri Lanka in Indian Oil Cup Final 2005
Nehra was phenomenal in the Indian Oil Cup final where other Indian bowlers struggled to find their feet. Nehra waged a lone battle as he scalped 6 Sri Lankan wickets for 59 runs. Chasing a target of 282, India lost the match by 18-runs but the super effort from Nehra will be etched into every fan’s memory forever.

3. 4-35 Against Sri Lanka in World Cup 2003
Nehra had a dream run in the 2003 edition of Cricket World Cup. His four-wicket haul against Sri Lanka in Johannesburg ensured a one-sided victory for India as after racking a huge 292 on board, India required just three of their bowlers to bowl Sri Lanka out.
4. 4-40 Against Sri Lanka in Asia Cup Final in 2010
It looks like Nehraji had a special liking for Sri Lankan batsmen. India managed just 268 runs in their fifty overs and needed a very disciplined show from their bowlers. Ashish Nehra rose to the occasion as he made quick in-roads in the Sri Lankan batting line- up with the three early wickets of Jayawardene, Sangakkara and Matthews. His four-wicket haul ensured India’s name on the Asia Cup trophy that year.
5. 4-47 Against New Zealand in 2010
It was a horrible outing for Indian team with Ashish Nehra as the lone bright spot with his incisive bowling which got him a four-wicket haul. India were bundled out for an embarrassing 88 in pursuit of 288. Nehra’s bowling display was the only positive for India to take away from the game as he restricted the Kiwi score to 288 which at one time was threatening to go past 325.
Here is how he celebrated:
