Top FPL picks for Gameweek 35

Leroy Sane goes to score

There's no time to rest for the managers as FPL enters Gameweek 35 less than 48 hours after the previous one came to a close. After a fairly high scoring Gameweek 34, the forthcoming set of fixtures certainly raises the hopes of a repeat of it. It all begins on Saturday with Southampton vs Hull City, Stoke City vs West Ham United, Sunderland vs Bournemouth and West Bromwich Albion vs Leicester City all kicking off simultaneously. These games will be followed by a six-pointer between Crystal Palace and Burnley with both teams seeking one more win that will all but confirm their Premier League status for the next season.

Barring the recent blips, Crystal Palace have certainly been the team to look up for defensive recruits and at £4.3m, Wayne Hennessey provides one of the cheapest routes into the Eagles' backline. Averaging 3.3 saves every match, the Welshman guarantees you an additional point every other game with his sharp reflexes. Palace takes on Burnley this Saturday whose woes on the travels have been well-documented. Just 10 of the Clarets' 33 league goals have come on their travels accounting for less than a third of their league goal haul. Only Hull City (9) have scored fewer away goals than the Turf Moor outfit. With 4 of Palace's 6 clean sheets this term coming atSelhurst Park, Hennessey could well provide you with 6 precious points or possibly more for your defence.

It has been the case of 'home is where the heart is' for Stoke all season with the majority of the Potters' best team performances coming at the Bet365. And with a mundane West Ham United visiting this weekend, hopes are certainly pinned on the home side to produce the goods. Erik Pieters, Stoke's highest point-scorer in FPL and a nailed on starter for the hosts, is certainly the man to look out for. The £4.7m-priced defender has provided just two league assists but that tally could be on the rise against the fourth-leakiest defence in the competition this season. Also, 6 of the 9 clean sheets kept by Stoke in the league have been achieved while playing in front of their supporters. Completing a century of FPL points looks merely a formality for the Dutchman this Saturday.

A regular in Pep Guardiola's side, Sane's stock has been on the rise in recent months. His 5 goals and 3 assists might not give the true representation of the impact he has had on Manchester City especially in the second-half of the season, but the 20-year-old's ever-growing ownership certainly reflects the faith in Sane's talent with over 20,000 managers having already purchased the flying winger ahead of the Gameweek 35 deadline. Manchester City plays away at Middlesbrough this Sunday.

Leroy Sané has completed more take-ons (32) in the league in 2017 than any other Man City or Man Utd player. All about that pace. ⚡️

The Cityzens have the best goalscoring record of all the Premier League teams on the road having netted 36 times in 17 away matches. The Sky Blues' away goal haul accounts for 57% of their 63 league goals alone. On the other hand, while Boro have been defensively resolute all season with 11 shutouts kept, none of those clean sheets has been achieved against a current top 5 team. Priced at a reasonable £7.6m, the German could well find himself in the thick of the action at the Riverside.

After an injury layoff, Gabbiadini has recently returned to action and his assist at Stamford Bridge earlier in the week was his first involvement in a Southampton goal after five Gameweeks. This development certainly sounded music to the ears of the FPL managers as the Italian forward has been snapped up by over 60,000 managers making him the most transferred in player for Gameweek 35. Since his debut, Gabbiadini has been involved in 5 of Southampton's 16 league goals (4G, 1A). And the striker could be set for involvement this weekend when the Saints host Hull City.

The visitors have the second-worst defensive record in the division with 67 goals shipped and have kept a league-low 4 clean sheets. Out of the 67 goals conceded, a league-high 41 of those have been shipped on their travels. Averaging an impressive 5.3 points per match and with two Double Gameweeks on the horizon, the Italian is now a must-have in your lineup.
