Second-placed Tottenham Hotspur takes on sixth-placed Arsenal in the North London derby on Sunday. The stark contrast in the two teams' target for this season says a lot about Spurs' rise and Arsenal's decline in the recent years. While Spurs have consistently chased Chelsea for the title this season, Arsenal have been around the top 4 but after a string of bad results have seen them drop to 6th in the Premier League table.

Both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have had a brilliant season so far, but unfortunately for Mauricio Pochettino, history is not on their side. #FYS #PremierLeague #Football

Spurs were disappointed with their 4-2 defeat in the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea last week but picked themselves up and kept their slim hopes of the title alive with a 1-0 win at Crystal Palace. The win meant that the gap between Chelsea and Spurs remains four points and with Chelsea facing a tricky fixture away to Everton this week, it is good chance for Spurs to reduce the gap at the top. There is no room for error for Pochettino's men and if his team is to pull off a historic league triumph then they need to address each and every game like a cup final.

Arsenal recieved a significant boost with their 2-1 win over Manchester City in the FA Cup semifinals. Though they were able to reach the finals of the cup competition, nerves were still visible in their 1-0 win over Leicester recently. Nevertheless, the win takes them to within 5 points of fourth-placed Manchester City and have a chance to cut that gap to just two points with a win at White Hart Lane. Though it is still an uphill task to beat two teams out of Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool to top 4, but if Arsenal finish the season well, they might just make it to the Champions League spots.

Stats reveal that it may prove to be a very tough task for Arsenal to come with a win from White Hart Lane. Since the beginning of this season, Spurs have not lost a single match at home and have only dropped points twice in their two draws with Leicester and Liverpool in the Premier League at home. But this doesn't imply that it is going to be an easy outing for tSpurs. The last 3 North London derbies have ended in draws, Spurs were the last team to triumph in this fixture back in February 2015. They are also undefeated in the last five league outing with the Gunners. Arsene Wenger's men last came out with a victory in the league against Spurs in March 2014 when they nicked a 1-0 at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Left-back Danny Rose may just be able to make it to the matchday squad after he returned to training after recovering from a serious knee injury. It remains to be seen whether Pochettino will risk Rose to start the match. Meanwhile, Erik Lamela and Harry Winks remain long-term absentees.

Arsenal Team News

Laurent Koscielny suffered a knock in the 1-0 win over Leicester in the midweek and is a doubt for this game. Center-back Mustafi is also set to miss another game due to a thigh injury. Santi Cazorla is out for the season but Lucas Perez and Oxlade-Chamberlain have returned to training.
