It is undeniable that the Royal Challengers Bangalore are having a disastrous IPL campaign.
RCB faced a devastating defeat in their last match against KKR, thanks to a hideous batting performance by their team. Having lost 5 matches already, we deduce 4 reasons why this season is turning out be a horrendous one for the RCB.
1. Weak Bowling Attack
The bowling lineup of the RCB lacks experience and is one of the weakest in the competition. Mills, Chahal and Badree have not lived up to their reputations this season. Even Watson, who is one of the most experienced all-rounders in the RCB setup, has underperformed this season. The bowling combination of average pacers and inexperienced spinners is one of the major reasons why RCB is continuously failing to perform in IPL 10.

2. Dependency on Kohli, AB de Villiers and Gayle
It's plain and simple. RCB cannot win an IPL match if Kohli, AB de Villiers & Chris Gayle fail to deliver. Both AB and Kohli were unavailable from the start due to injuries while Gayle has also not been able to impress much with his batting. Other than these three stalwarts, all the remaining batsmen have struggled.
3. Players not stepping up
In order to win matches, the whole team needs to improve their performance i.e. both the bowlers and batsmen in the team have to do equally well, which has not been the case with RCB until now. Some of the other players in the team – Pawan Negi, Stuart Binny, S. Aravind – have failed to deliver when it matters the most.

4. Opening pair mess
The Royal Challengers Bangalore have tried out several opening combinations in the current season. This instability at the top has percolated down to the the rest of the batting order and affected the performance of the team as a whole.
