Kolkata Knight Riders locked horns with Gujarat Lions in a thriller at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata which Gujarat Lions won by 4 wickets, courtesy a brilliant innings by their skipper Suresh Raina. The KKR got off to a brisk start thanks to some clean hitting by Sunil Narine in the powerplay overs of the Knight Riders but Gujarat chased the score of 187 with 10 balls to spare.
We take a look at the performers and non-performers from the match:
The strategy to open with Narine again worked wonders for KKR as Narine smashed the Gujarat Bowlers across the boundary without any breather to them. He smashed Praveen Kumar in the very first over of the match for 3 fours. He then hit 4 fours in the next over of Faulkner. His short stint of 17 balls yielded 42 runs which included 9 fours and 1 six as he gave KKR the start they wished for against the Gujarat Lions.

Uthappa anchored the Knight Riders innings and gave a brilliant performance as he scored 72 off just 48 balls which included 8 fours and 2 sixes. He held one end together and made sure he was there till the end. He was out in the 19th over after contributing with a crucial 72. He was eventually caught out by Brendon McCullum off Praveen Kumar.

The Gujarat skipper was the lone performer in the run chase as he led the Lions ship across the line with his valiant effort of 84 runs off just 46 balls which included 9 fours and 4 sixes. Raina led from the front as the other top scorers were only Finch and McCullum who scored 31 and 33 respectively. He didn't let the KKR bowlers settle as he smashed them all throughout.
Fabulous Suresh Raina leads from the front as Gujarat Lions avenge the 10 wkt hiding at Rajkot, beating KKR by 4 wkts at Eden Gardens! #fb

The veteran Indian pacer is the leading bowler in Gujarat's lineup but he has not been able to justify his experience through his performances. Raina gave just 2 overs to Kumar today as he leaked 24 runs in those two overs while bagging 1 wicket. He has performed ordinarily in the previous matches too. He will have to up the ante in the subsequent matches as a lot depends on his bowling for Gujarat.
The destructive West Indian batsman has been unable to perform in this year's IPL as he continued to struggle in this match too. He was bowled by Umesh Yadav off a mere score of 5. The Gujarat Lions has continously stuck with him and he will have to return their favour through good performances.
Gujarat Lions wicket keeper batsman was out for 3 runs off Nathan Coulter Nile in this match. He was out for 1 run in the previous match against RCB. He will have to start contributing with significant scores as the Gujarat middle order depends a lot on his batting prowesses. He had a very good domestic season and should be back on track soon with significant performances in the matches to come.
