Delhi Daredevils play the Mumbai Indians at the Wandkede Stadium looking to get their IPL campaign back on track. Delhi have played well in this tournament, but their decision making has been their negative point and they would surely look to get that correct. Mumbai Indians on the other hand, have been flying and thrashed the Kings XI Punjab the other night as they chased a target of 199 in 15.3 overs. They would like to keep the winning momentum going.
Here we look at the expected 11 of Delhi Daredevils :
Openers : Sam Billings and Sanju Samson
Delhi have not tinkered with their opening combination this season and barring a change or two, their combination is the same. Sanju Samson and Sam Billings have played every match of the competition and have been in good touch. While Samson has been striking the ball beautifully, Billings too has looked good but needs to be a bit more consistent.
Middle Order : Shreyas Iyer, Karun Nair, Rishabh Pant
Mumbai batsman Shreyas Iyer has looked good in the 3 games he has played and played a really good hand in the last game as well, albeit in a losing cause. Iyer should bat at number 3 ahead of Karun Nair as he can take the attack to the opposition once set.
Karun Nair has not been in the best of forms in the tournament, but looked in good touch in the last game. He would look to get back into his rhythm and play a crucial role for Delhi as the tournament progresses.
Teenager Rishabh Pant has grabbed all the headlines in recent weeks due to his fearless hitting and he would love to carry his form against Mumbai. Pant has been in sublime touch in the tournament. He got out for a duck in the last game and would look to make amends for the same.
All Rounders : Carlos Braithwaite and Chris Morris
Angelo Mathews has struggled to get going since his layoff and it is better to play the burly Carlos Braithwaite in place of him. Braithwaite can provide the much needed impetus in the lower order and is also handy with the ball. He deserves another go.
Chris Morris has been sensational in the tournament so far and has contributed with both bat and ball. Morris should bat at number 6 as he can win matches single handedly. If he carries on his good performances, he could be a contender for the Player of the Tournament.
Spinners : Shahbaz Nadeem and Amit Mishra
Shahbaz Nadeem has been surprisingly left out of the starting lineup in the last two games despite bowling beautifully in the games he has played so far. He deserves a place in the side ahead of Jayant Yadav.
Amit Mishra is the leader of of the spin department but has been extremely inconsistent. He needs to step up to the plate with Jayant Yadav and Murugan Ashwin breathing down his neck.
Pacers : Zaheer Khan and Kagiso Rabada
Zaheer has been good in the tournament considering his age and lack of cricket lately. He has an extremely sharp cricketing brain and has led his team well. He would look to lead his team from the front once more.
Pat Cummins has been really good in the tournament so far but is injury prone and needs a rest. South African sensation Kagiso Rabada has not played a single game so far and deserves a game. He would like to make an impact.
