The game of cricket is played on the field with immense competitiveness but the main motive of it at the end of the day is to develop a sense of respect, brotherhood and peace.
Virat Kohli is an idol not only for the way he wields his willow on the field but also because of the way he shows sportsman spirit off the field and it was no surprise that when former Pakistan captain Shahid Afrid announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket, Kohli sent his jersey signed by him and many of his teammates to the great Pakistani all-rounder.
Afridi today posted a tweet thanking the Indian Captain and the entire Indian team for the fine gesture showed by them. At a time when the tension between the two countries is high, the exchange of pleasantries is expected to calm down all those who love cricket.
It is a very well known fact that Afridi was a fiercely competitive cricketer on the field and did not give an inch to his opponent. However, his relation with most of the Indian players off the field has been very good. This is one of the reasons for this fine gesture.

At the same time, this move is also a slap on the face of Australian Media who recently termed ‘Donald Trump of Cricket’ and criticized him for his remark during the press conference. Kohli had said that he considered Australians as good friends but after the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he would not consider many of them as friends.
Well, if Indians consider players from other side of the border like Afridi as friend, Aussies must have done something terribly wrong to be declared as “Not worth being friends.”
However, this great move by Indian Cricket team is going to be talked about for a very long time.
