Stat Attack: Records go for a toss as Mumbai trounce Kings XI in a high scoring fiesta

Hashim Amla’s maiden T20 century went in vain as Mumbai Indians surged to the top of the standings with a comprehensive 8-wicket win over Kings XI Punjab in an IPL encounter at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.

Fans got full value of their money as records went for a toss with Mumbai chasing down 199 in less than 16 overs, thanks to some brutal hitting from Jos Butler, Nitish Rana and Parthiv Patel to a certain extent. Earlier Punjab had racked up 198/4 in 20 overs with significant contributions coming through Amla’s 104 and Maxwell’s 18-ball 40.

A 81 and 85-run partnership for the first two wickets for MI ultimately turned the match in a no-contest, which was heading in KXIP's favour at the mid way stage. Mumbai now have 10 points from six matches whereas Kings XI slumped to their fourth loss on the trot. They remain in the fifth position with four points from six games.

In total, 397 runs were scored in 35.3 overs for the loss of just six wickets.
