With four defeats in 5 games, Royal Challengers Bangalore are staring into the abyss and risk of becoming the first team to be eliminated from the Indian Premier League 2017.
RCB lost 2 successive games at home after away defeats to KXIP and SRH. They have one narrow in the 5 games and the previous year’s Runners-up need something miraculous to make it to the top 4.
The team has been trying out all permutations and combinations possible and for the game against Gujarat Lions on Tuesday, the hunt for the best XI is going to be on!
Top Order: Virat Kohli, Vishnu Vinod, AB de Villiers
Virat Kohli scored a half century against MI and backed it up with a 29 run cameo against RPS on Sunday. Chris Gayle was replaced by Mandeep Singh at the top, who failed to use the opportunities given to him this season. It is expected that Singh would be replaced by rookie Vishnu Vinod, who boasts of an excellent record in the domestic circuit. AB de Villiers had two quiet games after the fireworks against KXIP. He will be looking to hit form in this game.

Middle Order: Kedar Jadhav, Sachin Baby
Apart from his 69 against Delhi, Kedar Jadhav hasn’t been in the best of form. With high expectations from the Maharashtra batsman, he will be under the radar of the RCB management. If Mandeep Singh is dropped from the XI, Sachin Baby is most likely to make his way into the team.
All-Rounders: Stuart Binny, Shane Watson
This might be one of the last opportunities for Watson to make an impact or get benched like he was against the Mumbai Indians. He has been bowling erratic lengths and getting scored off heavily. His batting too is totally out of form. This match will be crucial for him. Stuart Binny has had a mixed tournament so far. He has wickets and runs to his name but none of his efforts can be flaunted as match-winning. He needs to play more responsible cricket considering his experience in the tournament.

Bowlers: Adam Milne, Sreenath Arvind, Y Chahal, Samuel Badree
Milne and Arvind bowled really well against RPS and will keep their place in the team. Chahal didn’t get to bowl much against RPS but he will be instrumental along with Samuel Badree on a slow track at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.
