Randy Orton in WWE Smackdown

WWE Smackdown aired with the Superstar Shake-up looming large. The arrival of new faces kept things fresh and interesting throughout the night. Here are the highlights from the show on Aprill 11 –

Bray Wyatt costs Orton against Erick Rowan

In the build-up to Payback, Erick Rowan and Randy Orton went one-on-one to continue Orton’s feud with the other Wyatt family member. The match was a back-and-forth affair with neither able to establish dominance over the other. Towards the end, Bray Wyatt appeared on the screen and distracted Orton long enough for Rowan to take advantage.

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn arrive on Smackdown; Styles #1 contender for US title

US Champion Kevin Owens announced that he was switching over to the blue brand. The Lone Wolf Baron Corbin came out and told him to go back to RAW. With things heating up, Sami Zayn made an appearance. The commentators hyped his history with Owens but AJ Styles came out and reminded everyone that Smackdown was still ‘the house that he built’. He later proved it by beating Zayn and Corbin in scintillating fashion in the main event for the number one contender for Owens’ US title.

The Queen of WWE is headed to Smackdown

Four-time Women’s champion Charlotte Flair was announced by Shane McMahon while the rest of the roster witnessed the queen take the stage. Tamina Snuke also made the jump to the blue brand. This signals a change in the women’s division after the departures of Alexa Bliss and Mickie James. Charlottle presents an imminent threat to Naomi’s reign as champion and sets the stage for a fresh storyline in the near future.

Shinsuke Nakamura confronts Ziggler

Former Intercontinental Champion Ziggler professed his dominance over the Smackdown roster in a short speech. But he was interrupted by Nakamura, who came out and introduced himself to the Show Off. Ziggler backed out of a fight after he tried to attack Nakamura, signaling a potential feud between him and the newest NXT call-up.
