After a thrilling and exciting 7 days of high-octane clashes, it is time to gear up for another high-voltage clash as the Mumbai Indians host table toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad at their home ground – the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Both teams are riding on winning momentum with superb victories in their previous matches. Although Mumbai has lost one match out of the two in which they have played, home advantage will play a big part for them in this crucial tie against the Sunrisers Hyderabad who have dominated their opponents comprehensively in previous matches.
Mumbai Indians – Team News
Mumbai Indians have been buoyed by the return of their Sri Lankan superstar Lasith Malinga who accounted for two crucial strikes in their victory against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the previous match. Moreover, the contribution of the Pandya brothers – Hardik and Krunal, has played the pivotal role in both the matches so far. It was Krunal’s spell of 3-24 and Hardik’s late blitzkrieg with the bat (29* off 11 balls) that powered them to that thrilling victory against KKR.

Moreover, the contribution of youngster Nitish Rana (50 runs off 29 balls) with the bat gave an example of Mumbai’s domestic batting strength when big players like Rohit Sharma, Jos Buttler, and Kieron Pollard failed to deliver. Ambati Rayudu remains sidelined with an injury. So, the batting order is expected to remain the same. However, Mumbai may make one change in the bowling department bringing in Tim Southee for Mitchell McClenaghan who was taken apart for 51 runs getting just one wicket in return in his 4 overs in the previous match.
Sunrisers Hyderabad – Team News
The Sunrisers Hyderabad look like an even better squad this year to defend their title. The inclusion of Afghanistan’s teenage sensation Rashid Khan has had a massive influence on their bowling in the absence of Mustafizur Rahman. The leggie has claimed 5 wickets in the tournament so far which has made him the proud owner of the purple cap. Both of Hyderabad’s previous victories at home were comprehensive as the beat Bangalore by 35 runs and Gujarat by 9 wickets in the previous two matches.

The bowling department has shown the same sharpness and edge this year as the previous season if not better. And their Captain Fantastico David Warner always unleashes his beast mode with the bat when it comes to playing in the IPL. Their middle order, which had been a cause of concern in the previous season, has shown good form with Moises Henriques and Yuvraj Singh in good touch. It looks unlikely that the Sunrisers will make any change to their playing XI unless they decide to drop Ben Cutting and bring in Mustafizur Rahman who has just arrived.
Fantasy Picks: Top Batsman – David Warner
I don’t need to tell you why you should have David Warner in your squad. His consistent performances with the bat make him a reliable pick and his previous innings-an unbeaten 76 off just 45 deliveries is a testimony to the fact. One has to be pretty brave and fool at the same time to leave him out of their squad.
Top Bowler- Rashid Khan
Rashid has been in superb form with his bowling returning 5 wickets in the previous two matches. The pitch at Wankhede is generally a good batting track and bowlers are expected to go for runs there. In these cases, only a bowler having some X-factor can give you the returns from the fantasy perspective and Rashid has that.
Top All-Rounder – Krunal Pandya
The elder Pandya brother can demolish the opposition with both bat and ball on his day. A superb spell of 3-19 in the previous match powered his team to a crucial victory against the Kolkata Knight Riders and the day does not look far when he will fire with the bat again. Don’t forget to get him into your squad.
Top Punt Player – Nitish Rana
Rana played a superb innings-50 off 29 deliveries, in his side’s victory in the previous match and looks promising for more of such innings. In the absence of Ambati Rayudu, it looks like that he will feature permanently at the No.3 slot. So, you never know if an even bigger return is yet to unfold.
