It has been an action-packed and entertaining five days of IPL|10 so far and the tournament promises more of such action and entertainment as the Kings XI Punjab take on visitors Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.
Both teams are coming into this match on the back of comprehensive victories in their previous matches. KXIP thumped the Rising Pune SuperGiants by 6 wickets courtesy a fine knock from their new captain Glenn Maxwell whereas RCB completed a clinical victory against the Delhi Daredevils courtesy classy innings from their domestic talent Kedar Jadhav. Although KXIP will have the psychological home advantage, both teams will be banking on their winning momentum to produce another fine result on Monday.
Kings XI Punjab – Team News
It seems that Glenn Maxwell and David Miller have taken up a new role in the batting order this year. They have identified the lack of experienced batsmen in the lower middle order and hence have decided to play the finisher’s role themselves. Sending Axar Patel and Gurkeerat Singh Mann to bat ahead of them was a clear indication of how the batting order is going to be for them this year. The experienced seamers in Mohit Sharma and Sandeep Sharma displayed good control once again in their bowling and would be looking to continue the same in the upcoming matches.

TNPL find T Natarajan claimed his maiden IPL wicket in the previous match but wasn’t much impressive with the ball. Marcus Stoinis continued his good all-round performance once again. The only change that may be possible in the next match is the replacement of Natarajan with the experienced Ishant Sharma.
Royal Challengers Bangalore – Team News
It has been a difficult couple of matches for RCB without their batting mainstays Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. However, they managed to sneak out a victory in their previous encounter against the Delhi Daredevils courtesy inspired innings of 69 runs from Kedar Jadhav. He has looked in good touch with the bat in both matches and would be looking to carry on the good work in the next match as well. The opening combination has been a problem so far for RCB as they tried two combinations in Gayle-Mandeep and Gayle-Watson in a couple of matches out of which none succeeded.
Great fight from the RCB team last night! Gave us some good momentum for our away trip to Indore.
— AB de Villiers (@ABdeVilliers17) April 9, 2017
Apart from Kedar Jadhav, none of the batsmen have shown anything special with the bat in absence of Kohli and De Villiers. Yuzvendra Chahal has been their most dependable bowler returning two wickets at an economy of a tad above 5 runs an over. English superstar Tymal Mills has been yet to justify his price tag of 12 crores returning just 2 wickets in 2 matches at an economy rate of 8. And Shane Watson’s inconsistency with both bat and ball has been a problem as well. So, if RCB want to win the next match, each and every team member has to step up with their game until Kohli and ABD return.
Top Batsman: Glenn Maxwell
Maxwell has been in good form in the build-up to IPL 2017 and he has justified it with his knock of 44* in the previous match. With the inexperienced batting line-up, he is bound to get enough deliveries to face even if he bats No.5. Don’t be surprised if you ever see him batting up the order as high as No. 3 anytime.
Top Bowler: Yuzvendra Chahal
Chahal has been brilliant for RCB with his leg-spin in the past couple of matches. However, he is yet to get the number of wickets he deserves and this match may just turn things around for him. One would only be a fool to leave him out.
Top All-Rounder: Shane Watson
Watson hasn’t been at his best in the past couple of matches. However, he did contribute a useful 22 with the bat at the top of the order and later took 1-21 with the ball in the last match against the Daredevils. It is a good return from any fantasy perspective and it will only increase in the upcoming matches.
Top Punt Player: Chris Gayle
Gayle is not someone who will guarantee you consistent runs. However, when he goes, he goes big! Moreover, the KXIP have the weakest bowling attack as compared to the previous two. So, don’t be surprised if you see him go berserk.
