Having witnessed ‘Lynnsanity’ on Friday, Kolkata Knight Riders supporters would expect another cracker of a performance against the side which has always dominated them in the past. The Kolkata outfit will take on Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians in the night fixture at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
As the teams sweat it out in the nets to get into best touch ahead of the game, here we bring you the predicted line-up for two-times champions KKR.
Openers: Gautam Gambhir(C) and Chris Lynn
After the tremendous batting show in the first match, there won’t be anyone on this planet who would expect a change of guards at the top of the order. With Gambhir looking in ominous touch and Lynn at his destructive best, the opening pair can invoke fear in any bowling line-up in this world. So, the opening pair remains a certainty for the next game.
Middle-Order: Robin Utthapa(WK), Manish Pandey, Suryakumar Yadav
The middle-order only had to sit in the stands and watch in awe as Chris Lynn and Gautam Gambhir made a mockery of the chase. Having a settled middle-order for the last three seasons, it is very unlikely that Jacques Kallis would bring in any changes for the Mumbai Indians game. So, Robin Utthapa, Manish Pandey and Suryakumar Yadav are certainties in the starting XI.
All-Rounders: Yusuf Pathan and Chris Woakes
Yusuf Pathan and Chris Woakes both are expected to retain their spots in the playing XI. While Pathan’s main job for the Knights has been batting, the case has been absolutely opposite for Woakes. However, both these players have the capability of winning games with their so called “inferior skills”.
Spinners: Sunil Narine, Kuldeep Yadav, Piyush Chawla (if not dropped)
Sunil Narine and Kuldeep Yadav are a certainty while Chawla might get the axe if Knights go for ‘horses for courses’ strategy. The leg-spinner did not have the best of nights against Gujrat Lions and it will be interesting to see if KKR go with three spinners.
Fast Bowlers: Trent Boult, Ankit Rajpoot (if Piyush Chawla is dropped)
Trent Boult did well while donning the KKR colours for the first time and he is expected to be a part of the side for this game too. On the other hand, Ankit Rajpoot may get his first game of the season if KKR management opts for an extra pacer.
Having mentioned the Predicted XI, we are eagerly waiting for the flip of the coin to find out how good our prediction is.
