IPL 10: Gujarat Lions Probable XI to face Sunrisers Hyderabad

Gujarat Lions were beaten quite soundly as they faced the LYNNsanity at the Saurashtra Cricket Academy Stadium on Friday. A 10-wicket defeat even after posting 180+ on the board isn't something that captain Suresh Raina would have anticipated.

The Lions now face the defending champions at Hyderabad. Here is the probable XI that will be up against SRH, who are playing on the back of a confident win over RCB in their season opener.

Top Order: Brendon McCullum, Jason Roy, Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina 4112* runs – once again leading run-getter in #IPL. Regains record from Virat Kohli (4110) #Cricket #IPL2017 #GLvKKR

All three batsmen got good starts against KKR with skipper Raina going on to score his 29th IPL fifity and regaining his spot as the top run-scorer in the tournament history. Brendon MucCullum also fired at the top of the order. Jason Roy seemed in fine touch but misread a turning ball to lose his wicket.

Middle order: Dinesh Karthik, Aaron Finch

Aaron Finch started off big with two massive hits but failed capitalise on the momentum and was dismissed cheaply as he unsuccessfully tried to slog a third one over long-off. GL would want him to be a little more responsible while batting for them in the next game. With a cracking strike rate of 188, Dinesh Karthik was the lynchpin against KKR as he elevated the scoring rate towards the end of the innings. Gujarat plundered 53 off the last 4 overs and Karthik was the hero of the same.

All-rounder: James Faulkner

In the absence of Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja, it is now upon Faulkner to take up the role of a responsible all-rounder in the side. Faulkner might replace D.R. Smith in the side as GL already have a pair of good openers.

Pacers: Manpreet Gony, Praveen Kumar, Dhawal Kulkarni

All the bowlers were taken for a hit against KKR and they will be looking to rectify that against SRH. The experience of Praveen Kumar, pace of Manpreet Gony and the accuracy of Dhawal Kulkarni along with James Faulkner will certainly come good at some point in the season.

Spinners: Shabad Jakati, Shivil Kaushik

In the absense of Ravindra Jadeja,  is going to be felt. But Jakati and Chinaman Shivil Kaushik have performed well in the past and Raina will be hoping that the duo move on from the nightmare game against KKR.
