Saturday night football welcomes one of the tastiest football fixtures in Bundesliga – Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund. League leaders Bayern Munich host Borussia Dortmund at the Allianz Arena. The Bavarian team are a comfortable 10 points ahead of the second-placed RB Leipzig and 15 points from the team in black and yellow, who are comparatively having a poor season by their lofty standards. The Bavarians are on course for another league title despite the result of this game, but a win would be immense for their confidence ahead of the monster clash with Real Madrid in the Champions League. Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund are hopeful of landing second and they will certainly want this win more than the other team. An entertaining clash is to be expected at the Allianz Arena.

But the derby’s entertainment levels and the final outcome will largely depend on one factor, that is, how the young players perform, and the impact they are able to make on the game. One point common between both German rivals is their ability to get the best out of their young players (with Bayern going as far as snatching the young German lads from Dortmund and developing them, which Dortmund don’t appreciate). Both these teams consist of some absolute gems, who have low levels of experience, but high levels of maturity, determination and skill. The German clubs do a good job in exposing them to high-octane football as soon as possible, nurturing them and getting the best out of them.

Observing and exploring some players below the age of 23 in their squad, we noticed that most of them are already recognisable and have made an impact in the top stages. There is talent in abundance here.
FYS has made a 5-a-side team consisting of U-23 players of both clubs, exploring which of them have the better players and which team would trump the other one in terms of individual players.
