Sergio Ramos scores

Real Madrid take on Atletico Madrid in the Madrid Derby on saturday. Real Madrid are well on course to win La Liga as they lead Barcelona by 2 points with a game in hand. Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, have revived their season and are third in the table. The game is set to be a hugely entertaining one as all previous encounters have been gripping affairs. Here we look at few of the memorable matches played between the two Madrid sides:

1) Atletico Madrid 3-1 Real Madrid (1999)

Atletico Madrid endured one of their toughest seasons in 1999, yet were able to beat Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. Atletico only registered 9 wins in the whole season, one of which came against their arch rivals.

2) Real Madrid 4-1 Atletico Madrid (Champions League Final 2014 )

The loss was one of the toughest to swallow for Diego Simeone's side and one which won the La Decima for Real Madrid. Real trailed 1-0, but Sergio Ramos scored a memorable equaliser in injury time to hand Real a lifeline and then Bale, Ronaldo and Marcelo all scored in extra time to hand Real one of their biggest victories of all time.

Atletico Madrid were left to rue their luck as they could not fulfil their dream of winning the Champions League.

3) Atletico Madrid 2-1 Real Madrid ( 2013)

After their win in 1999, Atletico had to wait for 14 years to register a win against their city rivals as they managed to win the Copa Del Rey by beating Real 2-1 in extra time.

Ronaldo put Real ahead, but Diego Costa and Miranda scored goals for Atletico to hand them a huge victory and the Copa Del Rey title.

4) Real Madrid 1-1 Atletico Madrid ( 5-3 on penalties to Real ) 2015 Champions League final

Sergio Ramos continued his dream run against Diego Simeone's side as he put Real in front before Yannick Carrasco equalised to hand Atletico a reprive. But Juanfran missed a penalty in the shootout and Cristiano Ronaldo scored a decisive one to win the title for the 11th time for Real Madrid.

The victory won the first title under Zinedine Zidane for Real and broke the hearts of Atletico fans once again at the grandest stage of all.
