Alliance became new leaders of the league last week after going 3 points clear of Vajra United. With only two games to go, the title can go either way and a lot can change in the league table as only 3 points separate the 3rd placed and 11th placed team.
Game 1: The Vikings vs FC Blue Steel
A resurgent Vikings side play against Blue Steel to begin the day.
Vikings registered their third win in four matches after coming from behind in dramatic fashion to seal a 2-1 win against title contenders Vajra United. With only 1 point separating them from the 3rd spot, they have a great chance to finish higher in the standings by continuing this form. On the contrary, Blue Steel are on a four-match winless run which has ended their title hopes. They have suffered two defeats including last week’s 5-0 hammering against Alliance and have slipped to 4th in the table.
Considering the form of the two teams, we are backing The Vikings to win and go overtake Blue Steel in the standings!
Game 2: Mavericks FC vs Nexus FC
10th placed Mavericks and 13th placed Nexus contest in the second match of the day.
Mavericks finally broke their four-match winless hoodoo with a dominating 3-1 win over DSEC United last week. They are just 2 points behind the 3rd spot and can go a lot higher than 10th in the table if they win this match. Nexus were able to lift themselves above from the last spot in the standings after holding Mayur Vihar to a 1-1 draw. The draw took them to 13th spot in the table, above last placed DSEC United.
Mavericks’ morale should be high after their recent win and it should be a comfortable affair here also!
Game 3: DSEC United vs Young Boys of Chanakyapuri
DSEC take on BHC for the third game of the day.
DSEC lost 3-1 to Mavericks last week and Nexus’ draw with Mayur Vihar meant DSEC slumped to last in the league table. They have 2 points from 11 games in the table. BHC are on a great winning streak which saw them register five wins on the bounce. Last week’s 3-0 win over Gunners continued their streak and lifted them higher in the table. If they can end the season with a form like this, there is a good chance for them to improve their standing.
This should be a comfortable affair for BHC and they should register their sixth win on the trot.
Game 4: FC CrossFire vs Nightswatch FC
CrossFire are up against a depleted Nightswatch side in the fourth game of the day.
CrossFire nicked a late goal to rescue a point against Chronic last week. A string of draws lately means they have to settle with their current position in 7th. Only one point separates them from 3rd placed SPG.
Nightswatch are coming on the back of a dreadful run which sees them with no wins in their last five matches. They have lost their last 3 matches by conceding 12 goals without replying. Those appalling defeats have drifted the once ‘league leaders’ from the top spot and they are at a meager 5th position.
Both teams will be up for the challenge and this should ideally end in a draw.
Game 5: Vajra United vs FC Mayur Vihar
2nd placed Vajra United will be up against a resilient Mayur Vihar in an all-important fifth game.
Vajra are on the back of two successive defeats which has cost them the top spot in the table. In spite of having the better chances in the game, they came out with no points against The Vikings last week. A response is needed in this game to keep their title hopes alive. Mayur Vihar were held to a 1-1 draw by Nexus last week. They have only one win from the 11 matches played in the league and are at 12th in the table with 7 points.
Vajra should come out strong in this one but may only be able to edge it.
Game 6: Alliance FC vs Spiritual Gangsters
New league leaders Alliance FC contest with SPG in another important game of the day.
Alliance demolished Blue Steel 5-0 to go top of the table in deluxe fashion. Vajra’s defeat meant that Alliance moved 3 points clear at the top. But SPG may prove to be a tough ask for them and they have to be at their level best to retain their top spot.
SPG thrashed Nightswatch 3-0 last week to go 3rd in the league table. They are just 3 points behind Vajra now and six points separate them from their upcoming opposition. Though the title is out of their hands right now, a win here would definitely make things interesting at the top.
We are backing both teams to bring out their big guns blazing and sit on the fence with a score draw.
Game 7: Chronic FC vs Gunners FC
Chronic and Gunners play the last game of Matchday 12.
Chronic were held to another frustrating draw after CrossFire stole a point late in the match last week. A succession of draws followed by some defeats have left them stranded at 11th in the table with 3 points. Still, they have a good chance to finish higher in the table as only 3 points separate them from 3rd placed SPG.
Gunners were outdone 3-0 by BHC last week and hence they couldn’t build on their surprising 3-0 win over Vajra, the week before. They sit at 8th in the table with 17 points.
Both teams are very uncertain and we are rooting for another score draw!
