WWE Smackdown Highlights: Randy Orton set for Wyatt showdown at Wrestlemania

WWE Smackdown aired live from Indianapolis as the blue brand continued its build-up to Wrestlemania. Following are the highlights from the night’s action –

Randy Orton defeats Styles to become #1 contender

After AJ Styles beat Harper last week, Orton turned on the Wyatt family. The match between the two was booked to determine the true contender to Wyatt’s title. The contest was a display of craftsmanship from both veterans, who put on one of the better matches in recent history, featuring the Pele Kick, draping DDT and other signature moves. The end came when Orton caught Styles in the RKO for the win.

Alexa Bliss will defend against every woman on the roster

WWE Smackdown Women’s champion Alexa Bliss was unsure about her Wrestlemania opponent, when Daniel Bryan came out and booked a multi-woman match with the championship on the line, featuring Becky Lynch, Mickie James, Carmella, Natalya and Nikki Bella. In a subsequent tag-match, Bliss and Mickie James beat Natalya and Lynch after a back-and-forth battle.

John Cena teams up with Nikki Bella for the first time

With a mixed tag-team match against The Miz and Maryse on the cards for Wrestlemania, Cena and Bella took on James Ellsworth and Carmella. The match was a one-sided affair with Carmella and Ellsworth not being to dish out any offence of not. The end came when both Cena and Bella locked in their signature submission moves on their opponents – The STF and the Fearless Lock. After the match, The Miz went on a tirade and disrespected the relationship between Nikki and John Cena.

Baron Corbin outsmarts the Lunatic

Dean Ambrose was called out by Curt Hawkins, but Baron Corbin appeared on the titantron to get his attention. Ambrose headed to the back searching for Corbin. Corbin attacked Ambrose with a pipe and then trapped him under the weight of a forklift. This will almost certainly lead to a match between the two, with the Intercontinental Championship up for grabs.
