While Team India battling out hard to level the series against the fiery Aussies in the second Test at Bengaluru, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made an important announcement about the new sponsor for Indian cricket team. OPPO Mobiles India Private Limited has been announced as the new team sponsor of the senior men’s and women’s cricket teams, the U-19 and India A teams as well will have the new sponsor logo on their apparel.
The Chinese mobile manufacturing giant’s (OPPO) association with Team India will start from 1st April 2017 for a period of five years. Oppo defeated multiple corporate players including DBS Bank, Reliance Jio, and another Chinese mobile handset manufacturer Vivo who were in the race to grab Indian cricket team’s sponsorship rights.
The current sponsorship deal between the BCCI and Star India will expire n 31st March 2017, therefore, the current four-Test series against Australia will be last for Team India with the Star logo on their jerseys.

Earlier, the current team sponsors (Star India) pulled out of the bidding because of "lack of clarity" regarding the game's future.
