It was a routine day of work for City as they played a really professional game away at the Stadium of Light to get the vital 3 points needed to stay in the title race, 8 points behind leaders Chelsea.
Sunderland worked hard and harried City well throughout the first half and even had the better of chances as Defoe hit the post, the follow up of which Borini could not keep on target. City dug in however and after some excellent work from Toure and Silva, Sterling was able to put in a great cross that Aguero dutifully put into the net to give City a lead going into half time. Sunderland were unable to keep up the intensity in the second half and the game was put to bed after Sane’s excellent shot went in off the post to put City 2 goals to the good.
