Claudio Ranieri's fairytale, unfortunately, did not see a happy ending after it was announced on Thursday that he was sacked by Leicester City. The brutal decision to sack the Italian who perhaps lead Leicester to one of the greatest triumphs in Engllish football came after Leicester's Champions League loss to Sevilla. Ranieri who was crowned FIFA manager of the year after guiding the Foxes to the title in 2016 has seen his side slip into a relegation battle in the current season. Ranieri and his Leicester side did not even look like the shadow of what they were last season. The Foxes are yet to score a goal in the Premier League in 2017 and have picked up just one point from a possible 18. They were humbled by Millwall in the FA Cup and the 2-1 loss to Sevilla was just the final nail in the coffin for Leicester's undermining season. Claudio Ranieri had the backing by his Thai bosses and the sacking has come as a major shock to many considering what Ranieri has managed to achieve with the side.
HERE IS HOW THE TWITTERATI REACTED TO RANIERI'S SACKING
IT REALLY CAME AS A SHOCK TO MANY
Ranieri sacked. Shocking. The man did the impossible. A sniff of relegation and he's sacked. Something wrong with football these days.

Gary Linekar says it as it is
After all that Claudio Ranieri has done for Leicester City, to sack him now is inexplicable, unforgivable and gut-wrenchingly sad.

MANY FELT RANIERI DESERVED SO MUCH BETTER
surely Leicester should be building a statue of Ranieri rather than sacking him – or am I just old fashioned?
