Only a couple of days ago, former Indian captain MS Dhoni was sacked from his captaincy role in the new IPL franchise, Rising Pune Supergiants. The new IPL team announced the decision to replace him with Steve Smith as the captain.
Dhoni meanwhile, has been named the skipper of the Jharkhand team for the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
It will be the first time that Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be leading this domestic side. After being part of the national side, MS Dhoni had hardly played any cricket for Jharkhand. Last year, Dhoni was a part of the Jharakhand team which was lead by Indian team pacer Varun Aaron.
For Dhoni, upcoming crucial fixtures in the Champions Trophy 2017 in England are the only ones he is going to feature in as Team India aren’t scheduled to play any limited-overs matches until then. Dhoni needs to perform well with the bat as well as with gloves behind the wickets. By being part of the domestic games, he can brush up his skills.
Jharkhand Cricket Association Secretary (JSCA) Debashish Chakraborty today announced the team for the 2016-17 season of the one-day trophy. The state team will play all their matches in Kolkata from February 25 to March 6.
The newly declared squad includes Ishan Kishan who recently featured in the India A team, Ishank Jaggi who made a lot of news for himself with smashing performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali inter-zone tournament. Another big gun in the squad is batsman Saurabh Tiwary.
