IPL 10: Delhi Daredevils’ squad dissected – Can the foreign talents bring glory?

DD have added some big names to their line-up to bolster their chances of lifting their first IPL title in the 10th season.

DD ended 6th in the points table in IPL 2016 and will be looking to go the distance after buying Kagiso Rabada, Angelo Mathews, Corey Anderson and Pat Cummins to their ranks. They have managed to reach the semi-finals twice and playoffs once, which did not help them to reach the final target that they always aimed for, but they will be looking to change that.

Players Retained – 18

JP Duminy, Mohammad Shami, Quinton de Kock, Shahbaz Nadeem, Mayank Agarwal, Jayant Yadav, Amit Mishra, Shreyas Iyer, Zaheer Khan, Sam Billings, Sanju Samson, Chris Morris, Carlos Braithwaite, Karun Nair, Rishabh Pant, CV Milind, Khaleel Ahmed, Pratyush Singh.

Players Purchased – 9

Kagiso Rabada – 5 crores, Patrick Cummins – 4.5 crores, Angelo Matthews – 2 crores, Corey Anderson – 1 crore, Murugan Ashwin – 1 crore, Aditya Tare –  25 lakhs, Ankeet Bawane – 10 lakhs, Navdeep Saini – 10 lakhs, Shashank Singh – 10 lakhs

Team Strength/Weakness and Chances in IPL 10

They have many power hitters in the team now in the form of Corey, Braithwaite and de kock. The bowling department also looks balanced with the likes of Chris Morris, Pat Cummins and Kagiso Rabada. DD have bought in-form domestic player Ankit Bawne, Mumbai’s Aditya Tare and RPS's leg-spinner Murugan Ashwin. Bawne was a red hot property after stitching a record 594-run unbeaten stand for Maharashtra with Swapnil Gugale in Ranji Trophy 2016-17 clash against Delhi. They'll now need to give consistent performances especially in the crucial games which they haven't been able to in the previous editions
