IPL 2017 Auction – LIVE BLOG!

Richard Madley hosted the tenth IPL auction at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Bengaluru which is also his 10th consecutive innings as an auctioneer. We bring to you the live updates of 2017 IPL Auction here.

So far, England all-rounder Ben Stokes became the highest international player to be snapped up in the IPL by Steve Smith led Rising Pune Supergiants for a whopping figure of Rs 14.5 crore. His English teammate Tymal Mills was another big gainer as he was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a record Rs 12 crore.

The real surprise so far is the Afghani players who get the chance to play in IPL 2017 courtesy their impressive performances for their national side.Veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi became the first Afghanistan player to be picked at the auction at his base price of Rs 30 lakhs by Gujarat Lions. Whereas, the eighteen-year-old leg-spinner, Rashid Khan was picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad for a mind-boggling figure Rs 4 crore.

South African pacer Kagiso Rabada was taken by Delhi Daredevils for Rs 5 crore. While leg-spinner Karn Sharma became the highest paid Indian player in this year's auction till now, he was picked up by Mumbai Indians for Rs 3.2 crores followed by a surprise pick T Natrajan and Varun Aaron for 3 crores and 2.80 crores respectively. 

 

 

One more player from another associate nation – United Arab Emirates (UAE), Chirag Suri becomes the first Emirati cricketer to feature in the Indian T20 extravaganza. 

Discarded Indian pacer Munaf Patel, he is sold to Gujarat Lions! 

World-cup winning skipper Darren Sammy made a comeback to the Indian Premier League. This time for KingsXI Punjab!

All-rounder Asela Gunaratne who helped Sri Lanka to clinch the 3-match T20 series against Australia will play for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2017.

Double Whammy for Afghanistan in IPL 2017

 

Released by Rising Pune Supergiants, Murugan Ashwin has been sold to Delhi Daredevils for Rs 1 crore.

Basil Thampi is sold to Gujarat Lions for Rs 85 lakhs.

Nathu Singh who hit jackpot during IPL auctions last year with Mumbai Indians who picked him up for a stunning Rs 3.2 crore, this year he is been bought by Gujarat Lions for Rs 50 lakhs. Their first buy in this year's auction.

Thangarasu Natarjan becomes the highest Indian player at the moment in '17 Auction.He is sold to KXIP for a big amount of Rs 3 crore.

 

Left-arm medium pace bowler Aniket Choudhary is sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 2 crore. Both Gujarat Lions and Royal Challengers Bangalore battled hard for the Bikaner-born fast bowler.

 

Triple Centurion in Gully cricket – Mohit Ahlawat who smashed 300 off 72 balls, goes unsold. 

 

Off-spinning all-rounder Mohammad Nabi becomes the first Afghan player to join the Indian Premier League

Local boy Krishnappa Gowtham who has impressed with his all-round ability for Karnataka, he is sold to Mumbai Indians for Rs 2 crore. Gowtham's base price was Rs 10 lakhs. Another surprise is Rahul Tewatia, he is sold to Kings XI Punjab for Rs 25 lakhs.
