With very little time left for the IPL auction to get underway, the franchisees are busy preparing their final lists and strategies to nail the best buys in the auctions.
While a total of 351 players will go under the hammer, we take a look at eight crucial players who could be the missing links in the respective teams. Though most of these players are sure to attract more than one franchise, based on initial squad we try to conjure the impactful buys for the teams in the auction-
Ben Stokes (for Kolkata Knight Riders)
KKR’s problems went from bad to worse when their ace player Andre Russell was banned for a year and is set to miss this edition of the IPL. The Caribbean star has been their Most Valuable Player (MVP) since the time he joined the franchise. In his absence, KKR can only hope they can go to distance to buy the flamboyant Ben Stokes.
With the other Knights all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan scheduled to miss the initial stages of the tournament, Stokes is a must buy for the two-time champions. Coming with a mix-bag of street smart cricketing brain and talents in all the three departments of the game, Stokes give the X-factor to any side. His innings of 258 off 198 in a test match against South Africa is a testimony his hitting prowess, and simultaneously he can nail the Yorkers too.
