PSL, S1 Day 6: Gunners, Mavericks & Nightswatch surge ahead!

Young Boys of Chanakyapuri (BHC) vs The Vikings

The day kicked off with BHC taking on The Vikings for the first match of the day.

BHC had been improving their game since the last few game weeks and started the match matching the pace of Vikings, fighting for every touch. Star-man Alex Swain had a few swings at goal in the opening few minutes. Their tactical switch to play defender Remy as a striker was working quite well.

Vikings were trying to settle into their game but were unable to do so because of BHC’s bright start to the game. It was expected that they will use their pace to get the better out of BHC and Josquinn was impressive in the initial stages testing BHC's young GK Will Lucas a few times

BHC saw more ball possession and were controlling the game winning the midfield battles. CB Ravi Rawat was clearing and intercepting whatever was coming his way proving to be a rock at the back.

As the game stretched, Vikings' Ayush Rawat was getting heavily involved but just as the first half was drawing to a close, Vikings defender Pushkar’s failed clearance turned into a gift for James Grace who meticulously placed his slow volley in the left corner to make it 1-0 in the 28th minute.

Vikings surged forward for the equalizer and would’ve succeeded if not for a brilliant double save by BHC's 15-year-old GK Will Lucas.

Halftime: BHC 1-0 The Vikings

The very first minute of the second half saw a nervy moment as Ravi’s long freekick hit the post, a terrible spatial awareness by Vikings' GK Utsav. They poured themselves upfront to get the equalizer and got it just two minutes into the second half! A counter break ensured a beautiful cross by Shad which was headed into the right corner by Aditya Khari to make it 1-1.

The goal gave Vikings the momentum to get the second and now they had found their rhythm. In the 44th minute Vikings got a golden chance to take a lead when Josquinn won a penalty having been brought down by Rob.

Their hopes of leading the match vanished when Anirudh’s penalty hit the post! He failed to head it on the rebound which showcased just how frustrating the day had been for Vikings' coach Prateek! Vikings created some chances in the final stages also but none of them were fruitful and the match finished with both the teams sharing points.

Fulltime: BHC 1-1 The Vikings
